Jolene joined the Tree of Life Assisted Living family two years ago in April after being adopted with the hope that she would follow in the pawprints of her sister Lily as the next therapy dog. She officially began her new role shortly after coming home, but Jolene has made it clear that she intends to write her own job description. At only eight pounds, this tiny girl carries a big, independent spirit and prefers to do things in her own time and exactly the way she chooses.
Even without embracing the traditional therapy-dog duties, Jolene has already succeeded in one important mission—bringing laughter to the home. Residents delight in her love of dressing up and her enthusiasm for attention from anyone willing to admire her outfits. She moves through the halls like a little celebrity, reminding everyone that joy often arrives in unexpected forms.
Outside of her time at Tree of Life, Jolene enjoys an active and curious life. She loves running through the woods, barking at squirrels and birds, investigating bugs, chewing on bones, and eating anything she can get away with. Car rides and a basket full of toys are among her favorite pleasures, and she has not completely retired from teasing her sister whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Jolene is teaching the Tree of Life community that every spirit has its own beat and that the real work is finding the blessings in everyone and everything we touch. Her presence is a gentle reminder that connection does not always look the same, but it always matters.
