It was a great evening at the Substance Addiction Ministry‘s 2026 “Road to Recovery” Resource Fair on Addiction. We’re grateful to have had the opportunity to connect with community members and other organizations who share the same mission of supporting recovery and raising awareness.

A special thank you to Dr. Lynch for delivering such an informative and impactful presentation, and to SAM for hosting a well-organized and meaningful event. And of course, the food from Copeland's was a big hit!

Two men from prominent New Orleans families, both deep in their own recovery journey, were brought together by friends and shared the same idea: Improve upon the addiction treatment they had experienced.

A New Orleans-based addiction treatment company has expanded its footprint to the northshore, opening a treatment center in Slidell.

Chris Copeland remembers what his famous father, Al Copeland told him shortly before he died of cancer.

“He said, ‘Man, if I had two wishes it would be that I could cure this cancer, and that we could get you past your addictions,” Copeland, 52, the COO and co-founder of NOLA Detox recalled.

Both wishes came true. The Al Copeland Foundation helped cure merkel cell carcinoma and after time, after time again in recovery, Chris is clean and sober. And then he and another patient, Dan Forman had a dream: help others but change the culture of treatment.

As the area's overdose rates soar, two men in long-term recovery are opening the region’s first in-patient treatment center.
