Counseling Department at LSU Health New Orleans Join us in New Orleans This mission is achieved through various academic, clinical, research and scholarly activities.

Our Master of Health Sciences in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MHS) program is fully accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and is a 60 credit hour graduate program. The mission of the program for the Master of Health Sciences degree in Clinical Rehabilitation and Counseling is to provide professional education and clinical experien

ce to master’s level students who are committed to serving persons of all ages with various challenges related to physical, developmental, cognitive, and emotional disabilities or other life situations to achieve their academic, personal, career, social and independent-living goals in the most integrated settings possible. Professional preparation of master’s level students will focus on equipping students with knowledge and skills to improve the quality of life for all oersons. Master’s level students will be prepared to assume the full range of professional responsibilities required in a variety of counseling settings and are motivated to contribute to scholarship and service locally and nationally.

We were so excited to welcome applicants to campus today for interviews with our Counseling Program at LSU Health New Orleans! It is always a highlight for our faculty to meet such passionate, thoughtful future counselors and learn more about the unique strengths each applicant brings to the field.
If you have started an application but have not yet completed it, now is the time! We encourage you to submit all required materials as soon as possible so your application can be reviewed ahead of our next interview day in June.

Graduation time is upon us! We are thrilled to invite you to a special celebration honoring our incredible 2026 School of Allied Health Professions graduates! 🎓✨
Date: May 8, 2026
Time: 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Location: Wrong Iron on the Greenway (3532 Toulouse St, New Orleans, LA 70119)
We would love to see all of our 2026 graduates, faculty, and staff there! We’ve also invited our community partners again this year, so you may meet your future employers at the event!
Please RSVP by May 7, 2026, to ensure we have enough refreshments and space for everyone. Each RSVP includes one drink ticket for beer, wine, or seltzer. We’ll also have light bites. March was a busy and incredibly fruitful month for our Counseling Department! From meaningful learning experiences to continued growth across our programs, it’s been exciting to see all that our students and faculty are accomplishing.

We wrapped up the month with a wonderful Spring Student Luncheon—such a great opportunity to connect, celebrate, and recharge together.
