Please join us in welcoming Dr. Deborah Allsbrook to the LSU Health Sciences Center Department of Counseling! 🎉💜💛

Dr. Allsbrook joins us as an Assistant Clinical Professor beginning December 2025, and we are especially excited to welcome her home as a proud alumna of our program. She earned her Master of Health Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from LSUHSC in 2007 and completed her PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision at the University of New Orleans in 2024.

Dr. Allsbrook is an LPC-S and NCC with clinical experience across diverse settings, including a local psychiatric hospital, work as a sub-contractor with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, and private practice. Her clinical and research interests center on military and veteran concerns, trauma recovery, grief, and the use of technology in counseling and counselor education. Her dissertation and regional presentations explored moral injury, combat veteran experiences, and combat-related PTSD, and she has also presented widely on grief work and the ethical use of technology in supervision and mental health practice.

Prior to joining LSUHSC, she served as adjunct faculty at NYU Steinhardt, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and the University of New Orleans, teaching courses such as Research Design, Counseling Theories, and Diagnosis.

Dr. Allsbrook is also deeply engaged in professional service, including roles with the ACA Mentorship Program, the Journal of Humanistic Counseling, and leadership in Chi Sigma Iota. She currently serves as Treasurer (2023–2025) and Incoming President (2026–2028) of the Louisiana Military and Government Counseling Association. In 2024, she was recognized as the Outstanding Doctoral Student in counselor education at UNO.

We’re so glad you’re here, Dr. Allsbrook! 💜💛
