After 28 years of exemplary service, Dr. John P. Hunt III, MD, MPH, FACS, is retiring from LSUHSC as Chief of the Division of Trauma and Critical Care Surgery.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Hunt has played a pivotal role in resident education, faculty recruitment, and the strategic development of our department. He is recognized both nationally and internationally for his expertise in trauma and critical care surgery.

Dr. Hunt founded our LSU Trauma/Critical Care Fellowship program in 2004 and served as the Trauma Medical Director at University Medical Center New Orleans for eight years.

We are proud to honor Dr. Hunt with the title of Professor Emeritus, and we are grateful that he will continue to inspire us with his knowledge and guidance as both teacher and mentor.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Hunt on a well-deserved retirement! We are so thankful for his visionary leadership, compassionate care and enduring impact.

Congratulations to Brandi Donelon, our General Surgery Residency Program Administrator!! ๐ŸŽ‰

Brandi was named a recipient of the 2025 Chancellor's LSU Health Excellence Awards. Established four years ago, these awards honor individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to advancing the mission and vision of LSU Health New Orleans.

Brandi also recently earned her Certification as a Training Administrator of Graduate Medical Education (C-TAGME) and was elected to the 2026-2029 LSUHSC Staff Senate!
