Please join us in congratulating Dr. Jeffrey Carter on being named Chief of our new Division of Burn Care and Research!

Since 2017, Dr. Carter has driven transformative advancements in burn care as Medical Director of the University Medical Center New Orleans Burn Center. Under his guidance and care, this became Louisiana’s first verified burn center. Dr. Carter's leadership extends nationally through his current role as President of the American Burn Association. He also continues to shape the future of burn surgery through his commitment to research. His recent research portfolio includes a $98.2 million initiative applying artificial intelligence to burn wound assessment, a $13.5 million multicenter outcomes study, and a $9.6 million Department of Defense–funded program advancing burn training for combat casualty care.

Dr. Carter's efforts have redefined burn care delivery, improved patient outcomes, and positioned LSU Health as a national leader in burn surgery innovation.

Congratulations, Dr. Carter!! 🎉
