In honor of National Kitten Day tomorrow my book ‘Bill Bailey, Please Come Home’ which is the first in the series of The Shotgun Shack Kitties is free to download on the Kindle App. You still download like it’s a purchase and you do not need Kindle Unlimited for it to be free. It will be free to download/purchase until Thursday.

When you download this book for free please consider donating at least five dollars to a local rescue or shelter. Louisiana you can send to Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO), Trap Dat Cat (we are picking them as our special group this month because-kitten season), Big Easy Petshop and Rescue, JSPCA, Zeus' Rescues, and out of town cat sanctuaries that help special needs cats like Milo's Sanctuary, Inc. or The Odd Cat Sanctuary MA. Of course supporting any rescue near you is amazing. Most of these places have Venmo and so you can Venmo even 1-5 dollars which can go towards some cans of food. Most of these places need volunteers and also have wishlists on Amazon. Anything you can do helps. Most operate on shoestring budgets and have to do what they can to make it work.

For those who may not know, these books were born from the innocent and pure love I gave had for this city since i was a child. My mom brought me here most weekends and up until my twenties I only knew this as a pure and magical place where only beauty, music, and love existed.

During Covid my desire to fall in love with this city again and to see the beauty, the magic, and the music all moved into my imagination as I began writing stories that had been developing in my mind for several years. That first year when my dad was in hospice was a really dark time for me and I needed a place for some light to go.

Truthfully, it still feels a little dark and if you have been following my posts at all you will know that it’s been a struggle. Such is life, there is no sunrise without sunset and no light without darkness. These books are my innocence, my heart, my childlike playfulness, and my love letters to New Orleans. The place that has held all of the magic I ever knew existed for my entire childhood. Get your copy today and join us. We are getting the word and letter placement today. This will be enlarged some, but I love this text alone on this page. It means even more when you see the page in front of it, but this is very special. “Wow. You guys can teach me how to play music?”

The Shotgun Shack Kitties are based on my real cats, but all of the stories and the neighborhood are based on real people and places who I have been fortunate enough to know, to meet, to experience, and learn from. There are two teachers who show up in Gentilly to teach Bailey and the other kitties music and one is named Toussaint, after the ultimate storyteller Allen Toussaint, and the other being Pharoah, after the one and only Pharoah Sanders. ”Creator Has a Master Plan, I tell you, Peace and Happiness through all the land”

I will be writing more about this and other things in the blog on www.shotgunshackkitties.com which is not yet published on the site, but coming. This series of books is one of the many love letters I will be sending to New Orleans. I complain about stuff here a lot, but only because I know she deserves better and everyone here does too. Looking for the right person to share upstairs space or I will be letting it go Jan 1. Really y’all. This year killed me. The last three were fought but Nov-June were too much to get this space going like I wanted. Hoping to find the right person to rent. I may even just try and find the right person to rent from the landlord for living space if we can’t make this work. The last neighbors were not conducive to a massage practice and I don’t want to do that again. Warming up the Infrared Mat that also has added PEMF and photon therapy for a self treatment and bodywrap. When clients cancel it’s a good time to have some self care. This May is used in our gemstone bodywrap which uses mineral mud that is enriched with quartz and Amethyst dust. The mat has amethyst, tourmaline, and jade. Infrared heat is excellent in combating inflammation, enhancing weightloss, stimulating collagen production, and helping to balance the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. Regular use has shown increased mobility and overall wellness and there are studies to back this up. It may not be a cure all fix all but it is definitely an excellent tool for all forms of self care. Come see for yourself. Today I split between my house and office cleaning and organizing, rearranging. New rug is going down in my treatment room, upstairs is ready for clients and workshops and will soon have a self-serve rest and recovery area as well. If you are interested in booking this space for a small workshop, class, private or semi-private yoga or trainings please let me know. We already have some of the props, mats, straps, bolsters, blankets needed for small yoga, meditation, or breathwork classes. Call or text today. It’s spring. We have been deep cleaning, spring cleaning and moving more into our second floor space. Help us make the second floor as lovely as the first by supporting our .org loan. I took my first loan from after completing a cohort at which is an incredible organization that helped me grow into running my small massage practice more like a business and hiring employees, writing a handbook, developing and training people. It’s always work in progress. When I took my first loan from Kiva in 2020 it was after I had already grown my practice a lot and I had no idea that a pandemic was unfolding. Nearly two weeks after that loan was funded the world and my business shut down. Even with that, and damage and closure from Hurricane Ida, I was still able to repay in full and on time. Here we are. Three years later seeking to make our next loan to expand into the upstairs on Magazine street. We have been in this location since January of 2021 and could not be happier. Please consider making a loan to through .org so that we can hit our goal and be fully funded. Loans are currently being matched so every $25 loan helps get us to our goal. This will make it easier to expand and hire and we are building out our upstairs space to have more treatments and treatment rooms available as well as classes. I took my first Loan in 2020 thanks to my work with . I had no idea that we were soon to shut down because of the pandemic.
