It’s Birth Trauma Awareness week, something that impacts so many. In fact, as many as 25-45% of birthing people describe their births as traumatic. Go to postpartum.net to join PSI’s birth trauma support group. We also had the privilege of hearing speak at this year’s PSI conference, and we recommend giving her a follow. The community she’s built around birth trauma on social media is incredible!

Meet Angela!👋🏼

Angela, LCSW (she/her) specializes in work with parents during all stages of parenthood, focusing on practical approaches to improve daily functioning, and a deeper understanding of the sensory and emotional needs of both parents and children.

Angela has extensive training in perinatal mental health and early childhood mental health, and has been a peer support volunteer with Postpartum Support International since 2019!

Fun fact about Angela? She’s trained specifically in adoption competency! This means that she works with birth parents, pre-and-post-adoptive parents, and adopted individuals to explore how adoption impacts them. What a great resource for families looking to grow through adoption!🥰

Bethany, LCSW (she/they) is a dedicated advocate with a passion for empowering women who are healing from trauma. Her background is in work with survivors of SA and partner violence. She enjoys working with fellow LGBTQ+ folks raised in the Deep South and those recovering from religious trauma alongside her perinatal focus.

Fun fact about Bethany? She’s trained as a doula!!! How cool is that?!🤩 Whether it’s perinatal counseling or her services as a doula, Bethany has you covered!

We’re the perinatal counselors at Re:birth, where we specialize in infertility, miscarriage, postpartum anxiety/depression, parenting support, and birth trauma. We’re located in Uptown New Orleans, although we offer virtual visits to anyone in the state of Louisiana! We see couples and individuals😊
