DePaul Community Health Centers’ Behavioral Health team participated in a comprehensive Boot Camp Training held on Saturday, January 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Algiers health center (2801 General DeGaulle Drive.)

The training focused on strengthening front desk operations and enhancing the patient experience through improved registration and compliance procedures. Topics covered included how to register new patients, properly set up sliding fee scale eligibility, request co-payments appropriately, and more.

Some of DePaul Community Health Centers' leadership team traveled to Washington, D.C., to participate in the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) Policy & Issues Conference alongside other members of the Louisiana Primary Care Association.

During the visit, DePaul representatives met with members of Congress on Capitol Hill to advocate for policies that strengthen and protect community health centers across the country.

Due to circumstances beyond its control, DePaul Community Health Centers (DCHC) will postpone Give Kids A Smile Day, originally scheduled for Saturday, March 7.

The event has been rescheduled for Saturday, July 18, and will now be incorporated into a Back-to-School community event in partnership with Jambalaya News. All previously planned components of Give Kids A Smile Day will be included in the updated event.

Additional details regarding the location and time will be announced at a later date.

DCHC appreciates the community’s understanding and apologizes for any inconvenience this change may cause.

Ascension DePaul Services Research Center (ADSRC) was recently featured in the latest Ascension Clinical Update, highlighting the Center’s Mission-driven, patient-centered approach to clinical research in New Orleans.

The feature spotlights how ADSRC is expanding access to clinical research for underserved and vulnerable communities not only to conduct trials, but also to enhance the quality of care by testing innovative technologies and therapies that align with Ascension’s Mission and Values.

The article also notes ADSRC’s focus on primary care and preventive health research, including studies related to chronic disease management, diabetes, cardiovascular health, cancer screening, and hypertension. Many studies incorporate education and behavior-change components to support long-term health outcomes.

DePaul is expanding its behavioral health services with the addition of Donisha Dunn, M.D., a dual board-certified physician in Psychiatry and Internal Medicine, who is now seeing patients at its Algiers Health Center.

Dr. Dunn evaluates patients with behavioral health concerns to create a comprehensive treatment plan incorporating medications, nutrition, and exercise along with psychotherapy.

Associates from New Orleans visited with fellow staffers in both Dumas and Gould, Arkansas to meet with various local and federal officials to explore ways to enhance health care services for patients. The meetings were coordinated by Lisa Goodgame, DCHC Arkansas’ Vice President of Operations.

As a result of this visit, DePaul Community Health Centers will participate in a major outreach event with the Dumas School District on Tuesday, April 28, and will work with federal officials during a forthcoming visit to Washington, DC to seek opportunities to improve transportation options for patients.
