Perfectionism isn’t about having no high standards. It’s fear: fear of failure, rejection, not being “enough.”
Many perfectionists learned early that love, safety, or approval had to be earned. As a result mistakes feel dangerous, rest feels undeserved, and self-worth becomes conditional. That constant pressure is exhausting! It fuels anxiety, depression, burnout, and shame.
Seeking help from a mental health professional to fix what’s “broken” isn’t the best perspective. Getting help means seeking out a better understanding of what shaped you and learning healthier ways to relate to yourself.
Talking with a professional helps you recognize where those patterns came from, challenge the all-or-nothing thinking, and build self-compassion without lowering your values.
Getting your mind right doesn’t bring you closer to perfect, it gets you closer to clarity, understanding, compassion and happiness regardless of your imperfections.
You don’t need to be perfect to be worthy. You already are. 💛🧠✨
I’ll say that to your face too! But you gotta call and schedule an appointment first- 504.239.4380
