Helping families have positive & empowering births. What is a doula? Why should I hire a doula?

A doula is a trained and experienced professional that provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support before, during, and after birth, or in the postpartum period. A doula’s job is to completely support the pregnant woman and to help her to have an empowered and positive pregnancy, birth, and/or early parenting experience. Doula support has been shown to:
- Increase positive birth experiences for the woman (and her partner),
- Reduce the use of medical interventions (such as C-sections)
- Shorten labor time
- Reduce medical costs (fewer procedures, shorter stay)

We’re closing our laptops and counting our blessings🧡 We’re grateful for the essential and impactful work we get to do everyday, our amazing clients, and donors and supporters who help us push the needle closer towards more equitable access to doula and lactation services for Louisiana families.

Now through Nov. 28 we’ll be resting and recharging so we can continue advocate and work from a full cup. We love and appreciate y’all! Happy Thanksgiving and remember the power of REST!
