Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a cornerstone of Imagine Recovery’s approach to healing. This evidence-based therapy equips our clients with vital skills to navigate intense emotions, manage crisis situations, and build healthier relationships—all essential components of lasting recovery.

At Imagine Recovery, DBT is integrated across our programs—from High Intensity Outpatient to Outpatient care—helping clients develop mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. These skills empower individuals to face life’s challenges with resilience and confidence, supporting not just sobriety but whole-person wellness.

Our commitment to DBT is reflected in the positive outcomes we see every day: clients who build sustainable habits, regain control over their emotions, and reconnect meaningfully with their communities. Recovery is more than abstinence—it’s about learning to live well. DBT is a powerful tool on that journey.

At , we understand every recovery journey is unique—and so are the support needs along the way. That’s why we offer a spectrum of programs designed to meet you exactly where you are:

HIGH INTENSITY OUTPATIENT/PARTIAL HOSPITALIZATION PROGRAM (HIOP/PHP)
Our High-Intensity Outpatient Program for dual diagnosis clients provides structured, daily therapeutic sessions Monday through Friday, delivering 20+ hours per week of clinical care. HIOP/PHP offers the intensity of inpatient treatment with the flexibility to maintain your daily life commitments. It’s ideal for those who need consistent support while still engaging with work, family, or school.

INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM (IOP)
Our core Intensive Outpatient option for dual diagnosis clients provides a balanced mix of dynamic group and individual therapies over a 10-week period. This 10-hours per week program is perfect for clients seeking to create a new life in recovery by building life skills at a manageable pace and/or those wanting strong ongoing therapy and community post-residential treatment. IOP is available in early evening format from 4-7pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, in addition to our 10am-1pm daytime option.

OUTPATIENT PROGRAM (OP)
Our Outpatient Program offers a structured approach to mental health treatment focused on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Participants attend a weekly 3-hour group session, engage in weekly individual therapy, and have 12 hours per day, 7 days per week access to DBT phone coaching. OP is designed to help individuals improve their mental health with new skills and support, particularly suited for those without substance use issues or actively in recovery who seek additional therapeutic tools.

OUTPATIENT PLUS (OP+)
The OP+ program builds upon the standard Outpatient Program by providing more opportunities for engagement and support. OP+ offers additional group sessions, incorporates a variety of therapeutic approaches beyond DBT, and fosters a stronger sense of community. This enriched environment is ideal for individuals who are committed to deepening their healing process while maintaining flexibility in their schedule.

recently welcomed for a visit and a heartfelt conversation about how we can support one another in our shared mission to empower women, in particular, on their healing journeys.

Imagine Recovery’s Co-Founder Christopher O’Shea, MSW, sat down with Grace & Emerge Recovery owner Leah Malone, LCDC, for a fireside chat about why they do what they do—in Austin, Texas—and how our paths align to create safer, stronger spaces for recovery.

It’s all about connection, community, and walking the journey together.

Our Story... While attending a recovery fundraiser at a friend’s house in early 2017, we were heartbroken to learn that our Uptown New Orleans community lost several members last year due to substance use and su***de. We know that substance misuse and mental health issues know no boundaries, yet were saddened to learn of lives lost, families shattered and communities devastated. Perhaps with early interventions, and the chance to imagine what a life in recovery can be, each of these individuals could have found a different, positive recovery path… We were immediately inspired to take action, and thus, our Imagine Recovery journey began. Our new abstinence-based Outpatient Program is located in the heart of Uptown New Orleans, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to educate, support and serve our local community, as well as those moving here in early recovery. When we reached out to the New Orleans mental health professional community, the response was overwhelming. We feel so fortunate to have found and hired like-minded, inspired, local Imagine Recovery team members who share our vision of creating a new and unique program for our beloved city. Knowing we needed time to bond and truly connect with one another, we began working together two months prior to our opening date. This is a very personal calling for us. Imagine Recovery is a deeply personal, individual and family recovery focused program. Come to our creative and nurturing space and you will feel it. Our dedicated and open-hearted clinical and leadership teams are here to provide education and therapy, hope and solutions, connection and collaboration. New Orleans is a spectacular, vibrant city that has so much to offer! We are here to help you imagine what a life in recovery in New Orleans and beyond can be!

Our Intensive Outpatient and Outpatient programs offer individuals experiencing substance misuse and other mental health issues the opportunity to re-create their lives. We are dedicated to helping people heal.
