Lolo’s is a youth health and wellness studio, committed to building strong, healthy kids, mentally and physically. Lolo’s was created as a place for kids to develop a passion for fitness, to learn how to create habits for a health-oriented lifestyle and to become aware and centered in how we treat ourselves and others. Along the way, we have a ton of fun, develop sustainable healthy lifestyle habits, and strong, supportive friendships. Mindfulness is proving to be a powerful force for adults and kids. Adults have many health and wellness options of yoga, pilates, fitness and spin studios, with some of those studios offering an occasional kids class. To help them have fun while focusing on their mind, body and soul. Lolo’s was inspired by the hard work and transformation of a group of 3rd grade girls. Through my work with Girls on the Run, I was amazed by the growth and transformation of these young girls as we worked together to achieve our goal of running a 5K. Within 10 weeks, the girls went from not being able to run down the block, to completing a 5k together. Along the way, we had many wonderful conversations about how to support each other to work through challenging run days, the “I can’t do it’s” and the I”m not a good runner” moments. The group became about empowerment more than exercise. But the exercise became the opportunity for the empowerment.
