Anne Atkinson LMT NCBTMB ADS BUSINESS IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED Through a health crisis, I found my way to Reiki practitioners. If you have a question about my work, please feel free to call!

Being first introduced to massage in 1980 in a Baton Rouge Chiropractor's office, I started receiving massages monthly and did so for 20 years. I knew immediately that I wanted to learn and share this...it calmed many fears at that time in my life. After studying & practicing massage in Sonoma County, CA, I returned to my native New Orleans in 2004. It was here that I became a Reiki Master and stu

died Polarity Therapy & Healing Touch in more depth. I've been fortunate to work with a diverse group of clients in an equally diverse group of settings. This includes spas, medical clinics, chiropractic offices, retreats, private company parties, fitness centers as well as my private office. I've worked with small children and large NFL players (Go Saints!). Detox Acupuncture is administered to groups of people at a time, with 5 needles applied to each ear. I trained in this protocol in March of 2008. It treats major organ meridians as well as the central nervous system. Most people who receive acupuncture detoxification on a regular basis report that they feel calmer, enjoy sleeping better and feel increased ability to focus better.

Did you know that TNC Louisiana’s Abita Creek Flatwoods Preserve in St. Tammany Parish is home to several plants and animals that rely on a healthy, open longleaf pine forest and savanna to survive? These include grassland birds like Bachman’s sparrow (Peucaea aestivalis) and Henslow’s sparrow (Ammodramus henslowii), and 29 plants such as Georgia Tickseed (Coreopsis nudata). Among several conservation tools, our TNC staff works on the ground to implement carefully planned prescribed burns key to maintaining the preserve’s longleaf pine savanna ecosystem. Since 1996, they also planted more than 100,000 longleaf pines at the preserve. Learn more: https://nature.ly/3CcYyqe

Do you have a favorite Louisiana native tree? We are sharing some of ours in advance of this Saturday.

The hearty, evergreen sweetbay magnolia (Magnolia virginiana var. australis) thrives in Louisiana. With it's glossy leaves and heavy, fragrant flowers, this native tree attracts a variety of pollinators such as tiger swallowtail and the sweetbay silkmoth. It has also been identified as an ideal tree for efforts by The Nature Conservancy's Louisiana Treesilience Program to build natural resilience within local communities affected by recent hurricanes.
