We don’t avoid the cold—we use it wisely. ❄️
Brief exposure to cool outdoor temperatures—paired with light movement—can support vascular responsiveness, circulation adaptability, and metabolic resilience.

How to use it (pick one):
• Brisk walk – promotes blood-flow regulation and joint mobility
• Gentle jumping jacks or marching in place – increases peripheral circulation and muscle activation
• Sitting outside with intention (upright posture, slow breathing) – supports nervous-system regulation and temperature tolerance

How long:
• 5–10 minutes is enough for most people

Short. Intentional. Then warm up.

Enjoy the gifts nature gives us. ❤️

❄️ Winter Weather Incoming, NOLA ❄️

From New Orleans Podiatry

Cold weather + New Orleans = not our usual vibe.
Ice, slick sidewalks, and cold floors can turn into injuries fast if you’re not prepared. A little planning now goes a long way.

Quick Prep Before It Hits

• Grab groceries, meds, and essentials
• Charge devices + backup batteries
• Bring pets inside
• Check on parents, grandparents, and neighbors
• Once temps drop → stay put if you can

Don’t Slip Up: Foot Safety Tips

👟 Shoes matter
If the sole is smooth, slick, or worn down — skip it.
Rubber soles > fashion right now.

🧂 Traction is your friend
Salt, sand, or even kitty litter on steps and walkways helps prevent wipeouts.

🧦 Warm & dry = happy feet
Cold, damp feet crack, blister, and get injured faster.
Change socks if they get wet. No barefoot wandering.

🚫 Hard no on risky footwear
Flip-flops, dress shoes, thin soles — save them for later.

🩸 Diabetes or circulation issues? Extra care.
• Check feet daily
• No heating pads or space heaters on feet
• Moisturize skin (not between toes)

Smart Things to Have on Hand

• Slip-resistant shoes or boots
• Salt/sand
• Extra socks
• Basic first aid supplies
• Flashlight & batteries

If you slip, twist an ankle, or notice foot pain, numbness, or a wound that isn’t healing — don’t power through it. Early care prevents big problems.

Stay warm. Stay upright. Take care of your feet — they’re doing the most right now.
