The world is at war. Your nervous system knows it, even if you haven’t said it out loud.

That numbness you’re feeling? That’s not weakness. That’s your body doing its job.

But your body was not built to run on threat forever.

Pleasure isn’t indulgence right now. It is the most radical act of biological intelligence available to you.

Dr. Karolina Ågren and I recorded one of the best conversations I’ve ever had at Rewire With Pleasure — and it’s the last chance you’ll have to get my Pleasure Consciousness workbook for free.

This is not as escape, it remembering what we’re fighting for.

💫 Your body. Your truth. Your aliveness.

Why does the crucifixion maps almost perfectly onto the default mode network, the region of the brain where we narrate and crucify ourselves?

The body has always known what the mind is only now catching up to.

I went back to church this Easter. As a neurotheologist and religious trauma experiencer, I went like a scientist returning to a field site. Curious. Cautious.

I still knew every word. The loneliness arrived when no one offered to shake my hand during the passing of the peace. I walked to the other end of the pew to connect with a man who was most definitely in his 90s. No one else had come up to him either.

What I found today was the ritual, and the loneliness, and a reminder of how extraordinary it is to be loved by people who chose you outside of church. All three at once, in a gorgeous church, on Easter Sunday, with cleavage.

Which is maybe exactly what resurrection looks like.

I wrote a longer version of this in a note on my Substack. Link in bio.

An orthopedic surgeon asked me what I did with his patient.

She came in with chronic neck pain. She left pain-free — in one session.

I told him magic.

What I meant was I treated her highest need after food, shelter, and clothing: meaning

I treated her where she was actually stuck — in her occult anatomy. The secret architecture every body carries. The part that gets out of alignment, gets injured, and creates real, measurable limitations — and that almost nobody is treating.

In thirty years of practice, I’ve learned one thing above almost everything else: treat the meaning, and the body follows. Read my blog to find out why this works.

How has your ability to experience pleasure changed with time?

more pleasure is one of the happy side effects of my Vagus Nerve work in aligning people nervous system to solar system that I’ve seen over and over with my patients and with myself.

I’m about to turn 55, and I experience more pleasure now than I did in my 30s.

While friends my age talk about low libido, painful in*******se, or feeling “done”I am experiencing more pleasure, more presence, more capacity to receive.

The difference? The energy in my body learned to move UP instead of OUT.

The difference between a lackluster s*x life and an amazing one isn’t technique, frequency, or even your partner.

It’s about where pleasure GOES once it enters your system.

When your nervous system is regulated—when the vagus nerve conducts efficiently, when your pelvic floor is awake—pleasure doesn’t just discharge. It ASCENDS.

For most women, the pathway closes gradually or suddenly.

Trauma, childbirth, perimenopause, religious and cultural shame, us vs them politics, and displacement all fracture your body’s ability to conduct pleasure upward.

I’m teaching this with .storm
Feb 4-8 • I’m speaking at the SHAMELESS Summit (FREE online event) about “Pleasure Consciousness” and you will get free access to my workbook.

Your body isn’t done. Your pleasure isn’t gone. The pathway just needs to be cleared.

We should not be surprised this happens and keeps happening. Repeated violence reshapes collective nervous systems. We are living in a culture where hyper-vigilance has become the baseline, and children absorb that stress into their developing brains and bodies.

Religious trauma creates and compounds it. When the very institutions that promise safety become sites of danger, the nervous system doesn’t just lose trust in the present moment — it loses trust in time itself.

To the survivors, families, and faith communities: your nervous systems are not broken. They are responding exactly as they must to overwhelming betrayal. Healing is possible, and it begins with the body. Thoughts and prayers will not regulate a system in chaos. Action, reform, and support will.

How big do you love?

Still floating from a weekend where the veil between heaven and earth felt delightfully optional.

I had the honor of witnessing a drag wedding—a riot of rhinestones, roses, and radical acceptance—where love showed up loud, layered, and unapologetically alive. There was glitter in the vows, gospel in the laughter, and something holy in the heels.

This wasn’t just a celebration. It was a sermon. On what it means to be fully seen and still fully loved. On chosen family, fearless expression, and how beauty is a birthright—not a binary.

There was more love palpable here than in any church or other space I have ever experienced.

I came home changed. Expanded. Reminded that the real sacred spaces aren’t always found in temples or cathedrals—but in rooms where people dare to be divinely themselves.

Big thanks to and for inviting me into this magic.

Big love is real. And it wears lashes.

And there’s a whole lot of brain science to back this up.

This is 54 - it’s the best age I’ve ever experienced.

I am in my happy place with an amazing circle of friends, old and new, near and far.

As someone who spent decades in su***de ideation, I now highly recommend getting older.

Thanks for witnessing me here. I’ll be relaunching my podcast and new material to celebrate 🎉

Today, off to spend the day with friends and my amazing husband of 33 years who shares the same birthday 🎂

I so appreciate everyone who has joined on my journey of treating the vagus nerve recently and from when it started, long before social media existed.

Ready to integrate ancient and modern science via time for nervous system to solar system alignment?❤️ ⏰ 💫

Attempting to post more this year. With my healing has come a lot of letting go - my drive for social media has fallen away - and I still want to share so much with you. It just might not be here as much as other people post things.

Science is coded into mythology. Mythology is coded into you.

What Is Healing?

I have I have been so depressed that I wanted to die, and so connected that I see dead people. I have experienced the anxiety of my body falling apart, and the joy of putting it back together. I have felt so powerless that I went into hiding, and so confident that I could walk into a room and be the thermostat, instead of the thermometer.

These experiences made me ask:

– Is healing a physical thing? – Are there also psychological and spiritual aspects to healing? – Is physical healing the path to psychological health, or is spiritual healing the path to physical health?
