After my patient accomplished her weight goals🥳, she wanted me to help get her face & jaw snatched (as is the usual next step)!
Aside from post-procedure swelling and purple marking pen that was difficult to fully remove, you’ll see she now has a beautiful jawline, better overall balance, correction of atrophy, & youthful glow✨
plus, can’t beat her smile after seeing it! 🫶🏻☺️
Different kind of teaching opportunity today:
This was among my most technically complex injection cases. I thought about it for months. Looking to bounce ideas off of another expert, I had a few months back discussed my approach with plastics and unfortunately the surgeon did not share my spirit of collaboration with respect to combining surgical and nonsurgical approaches for best outcomes while keeping the patient’s wishes in mind. I am always diligent in referring to plastics if appropriate for options, but often times the patient is unwilling/unable to undergo one of the most invasive surgical procedures(facelift), due to cost, time off work, recovery time, etc. or maybe not ready for bleph. In all cases, I do my best for my patient with the tools I have. In this case, Injectables were the patient’s preference.
I don’t need to repeat what was said to me in its entirety, nor the tone in which it was said to me (in front of my entire staff), but one long quote we all still remember vividly was:
“those results don’t impress me [re: shown laser journey that has transformed her skin], filler won’t make a difference, and I’ll die on that hill.”
I swallowed back tears at the way he treated me but remained stoic in front of my employees. I was so embarrassed — in hindsight I know he should have been.
Now I’d say wrong choice of hill.😬🤭😆
So grateful to my patient for placing her trust in me and for letting me share!
These experiences always reinforce my commitment to being the change in medicine that I want to see. Thankfully I have had overwhelmingly positive collaborative encounters with vast majority of the aesthetic space!
