Offering natural perfumes and aromatherapy products. They blend with the wearer’s skin and unfold over time.
Elspeth’s Airs perfumes weave together the scents, healing properties and energetics of natural plant materials to create fragrant touchstones intended to help us remember- a feeling, an intention, who we are. Like the air carries smell, seeds, ideas and energy; as it has the power to cut through the fog or gently caress your skin, may these fragrances envelope you, inspire you, seduce you, protect you and empower you. Like the ancestor that they are named for, may they carry on through your memory to reconnect you with deeper truths. Handcrafted in small batches with all natural ingredients, Elspeth’s Airs scents are more intimate and subtle than commercial fragrances.

Walking and spending time outside can serve as a bridge between body, land, and time.
This is how I’m practicing living seasonally—
through attention.
Being outside every day allows my body to catch up with the seasonal energetic shifts more gradually and naturally.

Nature has cycles
Our society often values constant growth—
more, faster, always forward.
But nature doesn’t work that way.
Growth comes in cycles.
It depends on rest, on breakdown, on time.
What emerges in Spring is shaped by what came before it—
by periods of rest, decay, and quiet transformation.

Growth has its own timing
Some trees hold onto their leaves all Winter.
And then, almost without announcement—
new buds begin to appear.
I’ve been watching as some regrow quickly, already fully “dressed” again,
While others take their time and just barely have buds or tiny leaves popping out.
The trees know when the timing is right for their particular needs.
Watching this has deepened my trust in nature’s wisdom—
and by extension, our own.
Not everything needs to be forced forward.
Not everything needs to bloom all at once.
Sometimes the message is just:
Begin when it’s time
and trust that you’ll know.

One of the lessons I’m deepening into as I walk through the changing seasons is practicing how to hold more than one truth at once.
I see it in the trees—holding last season’s seed pods while preparing new buds.
We can hold both joy and grief, beauty and pain,at the same time.
Both/and.
Being present with beauty doesn’t excuse us from responding to suffering.
And being present with pain doesn’t require us to abandon what makes life worth living.
Where are you practicing both/and right now?

Dog’s signature scent? 🤣🐶
I’m mostly kidding but lately, I’ve been taking my friend’s dog on my daily walks while she recovers from an injury. This dog is my niece, P***y. I’ve seen P***y rolling in the grass gleefully before and thought she was just experiencing the pure joy of being alive and outside.
However, I noticed lately that she seems to catch a particular scent and extensively sniffs the ground first before rubbing her back all over it. I don’t really want to know what she’s rolling in (I didn’t see anything noticeable besides grass and dirt), but I can’t help but imagine that she’s coating herself in some scent that she likes wearing 😂
Like, ooh! It’s my favorite natural perfume! Let me dab some on before I go home!
Anyway, welcome to my brain. How are you feeling today? What natural scents would you roll around in with reckless abandon if you could?

Pricing update
As I continue to learn more about the true cost of natural materials and the many hours that go into each bottle, I’ll be adjusting my perfume pricing to better reflect the materials, labor, and care behind these scents.
The perfumes I create rely on botanical materials that come directly from the earth—flowers, resins, woods, and leaves that must be grown, harvested, distilled, and transported before they’re transformed into the scents you know & love. Working with natural materials means working with the rhythms of the earth—and those rhythms change over time.
New pricing will take effect March 21.
Before then, I’m offering a brief window to purchase at current prices as a thank-you for your continued support.
With love,
Justine

Late Winter isn’t a clean break.
It’s a conversation.
I’m learning to stay with that tension instead of rushing past it.

To a more casual observer, it might seem that not much changes in Winter.
But when I return to the same land again and again, small and beautiful shifts begin to reveal themselves-
Tiny plants popping up,the way the land reacts to freeze nights, subtle movements that ask to be noticed.
Winter asks for a different kind of attention.

Even in a place like New Orleans, where there is just about always something in bloom, Winter holds a lot of stillness.
I wrote a longer reflection on Winter, stillness, and the threshold just before Spring officially starts.
This is part of a year-long practice of walking the same land and noticing what shifts.

When I’m overwhelmed or over-scheduled, creativity feels far away.
When I walk, space is cleared for it to rise.
Where do your ideas tend to find you?
This reflection grows out of a longer essay I shared on Substack.

Elspeth’s Airs perfumes weave together the scents, healing properties and energetics of natural plant materials to create fragrant touchstones that help us remember- a feeling, an intention, who we are.
Handcrafted in small batches with high quality, natural ingredients, Elspeth’s Airs are intimate and subtle, blending with the wearer’s skin and unfolding over time. Each scent is a balance of top, heart and base notes and last for at least several hours and often longer. Spritz on your pulse points, in hair, on clothing for your enjoyment and that of those you allow in your personal space.
Elspeth’s Airs considers the source and sustainability of the botanical materials it uses, and constantly strives to stay current and do better.
While the aroma and energetics of the plants used form the basis of each perfume, their aromatherapeutic properties are also considered. Justine is currently completing an aromatherapy certification and will soon offer various products with specific therapeutic benefits.
