The NEW AMSA Wellness Institute is an intensive experience with both didactic and experiential learning components. It combines student-led and field expert-led sessions. AMSA institutes are open to pre-medical, medical, resident, and allied health members.

The very city that is home to the capitol of the most powerful country in the world has an HIV/AIDS rate that is not only the nation’s highest, but rivals some African countries. “The Other City” introduces us to the people who live in the shadow of the Capitol but remain almost invisible to the lawmakers and lobbyists who live there. It’s about politics and ideology, corruption and bureaucracy, and an epidemic that grew out of control while few people paid any attention or cared.

"WHY US" FILM SCREENING

“Why Us? Left Behind and Dying” is an in-depth examination of the reasons why HIV rates are disproportionately high in black communities. It was made from the point of view of a small group of inner-city African-American teenagers, ages 14-17, from Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh, PA. Tulane virologist, Dr. Preston Marx, is one of the authorities interviewed and featured in the film.
