Jefferson Parish has partnered with University Medical Center New Orleans, the Spirit of Charity Foundation, St. Bernard Parish and Orleans Parish to offer free overdose rescue packs, which include one dose of intra-nasal naloxone. Naloxone is designed to rapidly reverse the life threatening effects of an opioid overdose.

“Opioid overdoses in Jefferson Parish have increased 69 percent from 2019 to 2020, and Fentanyl overdoses have more than doubled,” said Jefferson Parish Chief Administrative Assistant Sarah Babcock, MPH. “We are grateful for this partnership as these alarming trends continue not only in our region, but throughout Louisiana. The ability to easily provide access to naloxone could be the difference between life and death for those struggling with addiction.”
