Addiction is a brain disorder characterized by compulsive engagement in rewarding stimuli despite adverse consequences.[9] Despite the involvement of a number of psychosocial factors, a biological process – one which is induced by repeated exposure to an addictive stimulus – is the core pathology that drives the development and maintenance of an addiction. The two properties that characterize all addictive stimuli are that they are reinforcing (i.e., they increase the likelihood that a person will seek repeated exposure to them) and intrinsically rewarding (i.e., they are perceived as being inherently positive, desirable, and pleasurable).
This disease is BIGGER than any human comprehension. It is powerful and and baffling.
Addicts are born with this gene, they most definitely did not sign up for a life of chaos, hurt and loss.
I have been in this since 2006. I am able to guide family’s through the process as well as intervening during a time of crisis. My contact info is on my website.
My mission through this page is to blog about several interesting facts aimed at hopefully helping family and friends to better understand what it is like to be an addict, what to expect before and after treatment, crisis and healing.
I am available 24/7.
I am an advocate for addicts, inmates etc.
I place clients all over the United States and I am very familiar with the legal process if they are incarcerated.
Even if you Do you not have an addict in your family… You probably know someone who is. Please like my page and share it so I may be able to help others to get their life back.
