The Statue of Liberty, officially known as "Liberty Enlightening the World," is a famous monument located on Liberty Island in New York Harbor. It was a gift from the people of France to the US as a symbol of friendship and democracy. The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886, and has since become a universal symbol of freedom and hope.

Designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and with a framework created by Gustave Eiffel, she stands at a height of 305 feet, including her pedestal.

She is holding a torch in her right hand that symbolizes enlightenment. In her left hand, she holds a tablet inscribed with the date of the American Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776. This tablet represents the importance of freedom and democracy.

The statue serves as a reminder of the enduring friendship between the US and France, as well as a beacon of hope and inspiration to people around the world.
