If you have any storm-related issues or are still evacuated and can't make a prescheduled appointment, we understand. Please let us know, and all already cancelled appointments will be rescheduled at a later date.

Patients and friends,

We hope this finds you and your family in good health. As of Monday, May 11, West End Dental will be returning to an "almost normal" operation. We will be doing most dental procedures, including dental cleanings, as allowed by the Louisiana Department of Public Health and the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry. While we have been "emergency/urgent care only" for the last eight weeks, that has now been expanded as most dental procedures are important for overall health and comfort.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe--all recommended by the CDC, OSHA, and the ADA.

For example:

-- Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. Remember to inform us if you or anyone you're in close contact with has exhibited signs of sickness in the last two weeks. This may impact how soon we can schedule you.

-- We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.

--We will also ask you to rinse with antimicrobial mouthwash before your dental appointment. Don't worry, it tastes great! (Breath Rx by Philips Sonicare)

--You may see that, for the time being, our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, books, and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect. There are some brochures and business cards. If you take one, please keep it or dispose of it in the trash can.

--If you've been here before you know that we are a small office that usually sees one patient at a time. That being said, appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. There will be more time between appointments, thus possibly less appointments available in a day. Please reserve ahead of time to get the time that's best for you.

You will also notice that we are turning back on our automated text/email alerts for appointment and recare reminders. These reminders are invaluable to our patients and ourselves, and as a courtesy so as to not "bug you" in this current reality they've been turned off for the last seven weeks. If you're not comfortable returning to the dentist, please ignore them and respond when you are ready.

Limited office opening starting April 27!

I hope this finds you safe and well.

The Governor and Dept. of Public Health has now announced that dental offices can re-open in a limited capacity on Monday, April 27. As always, the safety of our patients is our primary concern.
We are allowed to treat the following:
--emergency procedures (pain, infection)
--dental procedures to avoid further harm from an underlying condition
--"time-sensitive" conditions--these are conditions that could worsen in the near future if left alone
"Any dental procedures in which a delay will not adversely affect the patient or underlying disease process should still continue to be postponed." (Dept. of Public Health Order Notice #2020-CoVid19-All-010)

Our curve is flattening, but it will still take more time!

Based on the guidelines above we can open, but should not resume things like "routine dental cleanings", cosmetic treatments, or small issues (non-emergency, non-time-sensitive) just yet.

If you do see us in the office rest assured we are taking every precaution to ensure your safety. Besides masks and gloves on our part we will practice social distancing by only having one patient in the office at a time. There are hand sanitizers at every station and antibacterial mouthwash at every sink. All instruments are completely sterilized or disposable, and all surfaces are wiped with disinfectant or re-covered between patients. You must be symptom-free (respiratory issues, fever) to make an appointment, practice social distancing for two days before the appointment, and we will check back with you two weeks later to check that your remain symptom-free.

We realize that many folks won't feel comfortable yet, and that's fine. Much of our physical and societal discomfort with CoVid-19 will take time to go away. We're still here if you need us.

Once we are back "full-time" we will offer some extended hours/days to help with folks that, like us, were out of work and maybe can't take as much time out for a dental appointment.
