Congratulations to our 2026 SPH Delta Omega Alpha Psi Poster Session winners! We’re proud to recognize two outstanding doctoral students whose research is advancing public health in meaningful ways.

Gabrielle Gonzalez - 1st Place
PhD in Community Health Sciences
Body Image Shame, Perceived Behavioral Control, Social Support, and Eating Behaviors Among U.S. Adults

"This work reflects years of dedication to understanding body image and binge eating, and how shame can shape how we feel about and take care of our bodies. I'm proud to help bring attention to these often overlooked experiences. I'm incredibly proud to share my dissertation work and grateful to see it recognized. It's an honor to represent the LSUHSC School of Public Health."

Nubaira Rizvi - 2nd Place
PhD in Biostatistics
Structural Drivers of Cancer: miRNA Expression as a Link between Transportation Burden and TNBC Progression

"This research provides molecular evidence of how environmental burdens, like living near heavy transit, actively drive aggressive breast cancer in vulnerable communities. I am incredibly honored and excited, as it highlights the vital need to bridge the gap between urban planning and molecular epidemiology to improve public health outcomes."

Join us in celebrating their incredible work and well-deserved recognition!

Go Green NOLA is making it easier for residents to live more sustainably by sharing resources, promoting local food systems, and encouraging small, everyday changes that lead to a bigger impact. From reducing waste to raising awareness about flooding and pollution, their work helps build a healthier, more resilient city.

Because when it comes to public health, going green isn’t optional - it’s essential!
