Tulane Family Medicine Tulane Family Medicine provides continuing, comprehensive health care for individuals and families.

The Department of Family and Community Medicine was created in 1998 to provide educational, clinical and research leadership in Primary Care and ambulatory medicine within Tulane University Medical Center and the surrounding community. Family Medicine, established as a distinct discipline in 1969, is a broad medical specialty providing on-going , comprehensive health care for the individual and t

he family. Family Medicine integrates biological, clinical and behavioral science in order to treat the patient from a biopsychosocial perspective. The scope of Family Medicine encompasses all ages, both genders, each organ system and every disease entity. Also integral to Family Medicine is a focus on evidence-based medicine which allows Family doctors to treat patients using the latest and best evidence available.

Originally from Baton Rouge, after college at LSU that included an Ultimate Frisbee stint, Michael Crick made his way to New Orleans for Tulane medical school and also to pursue his MPH. He has held strong interests in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine, even before coming through our department. Among his leadership positions, he was the FMIG and Sports Med Interest Groups presidents. Of our state branch of the national academy — the LAFP, Michael is the Student Alternate Delegate to the General Assembly. He travelled to Nome, Alaska, for his full-scope, full-spectrum clerkship experience in service to the Native Alaskan population. In evidence of his good demeanor, strong work-ethic, clinical acumen, and dedication to the field, he has been awarded the Andrews Sports Medicine and American Sports Medicine Institute Medical Student Research Fellowship for the next academic year in Birmingham, Alabama.
