Since last week, there have been 105 more cases of measles reported nationally. Arkansas was one of three new states reporting measles, which is why in Louisiana we need to make sure all who are eligible for the MMR vaccine get vaccinated as soon as possible.

Just an update on outbreaks in Louisiana. Be sure your children are up-to-date. Pertussis is rampant & scary.

Louisiana’s Surgeon General Dr. Ralph Abraham confirmed Thursday that two infants have died in the last six months amid an ongoing whooping cough outbreak in the state.

The two deaths are the first in Louisiana since 2018, and among just 10 reported nationwide last year.

“The Louisiana Department of Health is closely monitoring ongoing increased pertussis activity,” Abraham said. “Anyone who is up-to-date with their pertussis vaccine is well-protected against the virus.” bit.ly/4c6CtHk
