Hello! My name is Grant Freer. While I have many to thank for the success of my practice, I'm the sole proprietor of Freer Therapeutics.
I began my work about 15 years ago, working at the Spa at Mohonk Mountain House. This allowed me to work with a wide variety of people and truly see how “every-body” is different. I continued studying and practicing various styles and techniques and, over time, I've developed my own style that incorporates a global variety of techniques that I use to create effective treatments for the people in my care. I created Freer Therapeutics as a place where I could work with people directly to customize and implement the variety of work that I do.
I have a masters degree in acupuncture and I convert specific techniques into acupressure with the addition of a wide variety of other hands-on practices. My goal with Freer Therapeutics is first and foremost to give the best massage can offer to help the people in my care, but I also like to push at the boundaries of what massage therapy can be as I further my skills as a healer.
Simple relaxation is sometimes the most therapeutic treatment; Reducing stress; taking 'time out'; commitment to a self care routine; these are all fantastic reasons for massage. However, I haven't met anyone who didn't have something else that needs some attention. Every-body is different, and so I like to start with a chat about why you've come in and what your goals are. From there we can get on the same page with what you'd like to get out of the treatment and create a customized therapeutic experience for you.
Here's some examples of what I work with regularly:
Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress-related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. Massage is an effective tool for managing this stress, which translates into:
Decreased anxiety.
Enhanced sleep quality.
Greater energy.
Improved concentration.
Increased circulation.
Reduced fatigue.
Massage can also help specifically address a number of health issues. Bodywork can:
Alleviate low-back pain and improve range of motion.
Assist with shorter, easier labor for expectant mothers and shorten maternity hospital stays.
Ease medication dependence.
Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body's natural defense system.
Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles.
Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts.
Improve the condition of the body's largest organ—the skin.
Increase joint flexibility.
Lessen depression and anxiety.
Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks.
Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation.
Reduce postsurgery adhesions and swelling.
Reduce spasms and cramping.
Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles.
Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body's natural painkiller.
Relieve migraine pain.
Some of the modalities I use include
Swedish and Deep Tissue techniques
Spontaneous Muscle Release Technique (SMRT)
Corestone and Hot stone
Cupping
Gua Sha
Reflexology
Acupressure
Ablon
Lymphatic drainage
Meridian Massage
Five Element Alchemical Bodywork
