The HRT/Dementia discussion isn't as straight forward as it may appear... making educated decisions matters!
Many women start HRT hoping to protect their brains ❤️
And it makes sense why — declining estrogen levels have been linked with changes in memory, cognition, and overall brain function during perimenopause and menopause.
But here’s what’s important to know:
The research on HRT and dementia risk is mixed.
Many studies actually show no benefit or even an increased risk in certain groups.
👉 The details matter:
✓ Type of hormones used
✓ Combination of hormones
✓ Age when HRT is started
✓ Timing relative to menopause
✓ Duration of use
There is no one-size-fits-all answer.
It’s easy to make decisions from fear — especially when messaging around “protecting your brain” is everywhere.
But feeling informed is more powerful than feeling fearful.
The goal isn’t to rush into treatment. The goal is to understand your risks, your symptoms, and your unique situation and make decisions with guidance.
Work with someone who understands the nuances — because they matter. 💛
