Good Vibes for Gabby

Good Vibes for Gabby Gabrielle was diagnosed with Crohn's disease on January 26, 2022, at the age of 13. Through several MRIs 2 fistulas were revealed. Good vibes are always welcome.

Gabrielle Young was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in the stomach, small intestine, and colon on January 26, 2022, at the age of 13. Crohn's disease is a chronic illness which causes inflammation in the digestive tract. Gabrielle takes pharmaceuticals and medical cannabis to help manage her inflammation, nausea, and pain. Since her diagnosis, she has been hospitalized multiple times to treat an abscess. She is currently on Remicade IV infusions to heal the fistulas.

Gabrielle met with her guidance counselor today to choose her classes for 10th grade. She also met with the International Baccalaureate Program counselor. Gabrielle got into the IB Program!!!

With so many hospitalizations last school year she maintained straight As while doing virtual school. This year, she’s been going to school for 3 classes and taking 3 classes at home virtually.

I met with her guidance counselor and teachers when school started to have a 504 plan in place in case there were more hospitalizations. Fortunately, this school year has gone very well for Gabrielle. She’s taking 4 honors classes and still has straight As despite doctor’s appointments, infusions, and medical tests. She’s already on pace for the IB Program except for Geometry which she intends to take this summer.

We are so very proud of her!❤️

I’m getting my 6th Remicade infusion. I saw my GI this morning. While a fistula continues to drain daily my GI doesn’t have any suggestions other than to keep taking Remicade every 8 weeks. I’m hopeful this will work, but we are exploring other options with new studies. My mom told the GI about a study she recently read about where adipose (fat) stem cells were used to successfully close fistulas. For now, we will wait a few more months before trying something new. Please send positive thoughts and healing energy.💜
