Across BayCare, our maternity services have been celebrating World Breastfeeding Week, held the first week of August every year. 💗🌎 This week at Mease Countryside Hospital and Morton Plant Hospital, we were proud to host special “Latch Parties” for our moms and BayCareKids babies – a beautiful celebration of connection, support and motherhood.

Led by perinatal educator Corey and social services specialist Alina – with support from special projects coordinator for women’s services, Lou Ann – the hospitals’ Supporting Motherhood and More groups came together for friendship and photos, raffle prizes, elevated snacks and most importantly, support and reassurance, because your well-being matters just as much as your baby’s. 💕

These groups meet weekly at each hospital, offering a safe space for new moms to connect with each other and a certified lactation consultant. For many, it’s more than a meeting – it’s a village. Motherhood is an incredible adventure, and your labor and delivery is just the beginning. No matter where you are in your journey, we want you to know that our staff is here for you every step of the way.

BayCare is proud to be a trusted support system for moms in our community, helping them build lasting relationships and navigate the journey of motherhood together. 💙

At BayCare, we believe in the strength of partnerships. Our collaboration with Pasco County, Florida, Government on the new BayCare Behavioral Health Urgent Care is a shining example of what can be achieved when we work together to support the communities we serve.

Since opening in February, the new urgent care center in New Port Richey has served nearly 800 residents with behavioral health or substance use needs. Of those, 97% received appropriate care without the need for hospitalization or incarceration. This voluntary resource, which was made possible by a grant from the Pasco County Commission using opioid settlement funds, provides residents with a safe and judgment-free option to address their mental health and substance use needs while preserving county resources and most importantly, saving lives.

This model of behavioral health care, the first of its kind in the state, has been honored by both the Florida Association of Counties and the National Association of Counties.

Recently, the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners recognized BayCare for its leadership in providing this valuable resource to the residents of Pasco County. We thank them for their continued support as we forge new opportunities to expand behavioral health care in Florida.
