🌟 Tips for a Smooth Recovery After Cataract Surgery 🌟

Taking care of your eyes after cataract surgery is key to a successful recovery! Here’s what you can do to heal effectively and protect your vision during the first few weeks:

🔹 Follow Your Doctor’s Instructions
• Use prescribed eye drops as recommended.
• Wear protective eyewear or an eye shield, especially when sleeping.
• Avoid rubbing or putting pressure on your eye.

🔹 Practice Good Hygiene
• Be cautious when washing your face or hair to avoid getting soap or water in your eye.
• Skip eye makeup, face creams, and lotions for 1–2 weeks.
• Wait at least 10 days before coloring or perming your hair.

🔹 Rest & Take It Easy
• Rest when you’re tired—your body needs it to heal.
• Avoid strenuous activities like jogging, weight lifting, or gardening for at least 2 weeks.
• Be mindful when moving around—take it slow on stairs and avoid bending over.

🔹 Protect Your Vision Outdoors
• Wear sunglasses on bright days to shield your eyes from UV rays.

🔹 Avoid Certain Activities
• Stay out of pools, hot tubs, or dusty environments for 1–2 weeks.
• Follow your doctor’s guidance about resuming exercise, driving, or other activities.

Are you considering cataract surgery? Learn about lens options and learn what type of lens is the best for you and why.

✔️The high-definition or HD lens gives you the ability to see distance without glasses. The HD lens also provides a slight improvement in intermediate vision and corrects low amounts of astigmatism. With an HD lens you will not need glasses for distance, you will only need glasses for near.

✔️There is another type of lens that is also an HD lens. It’s called Toric lens and it’s specifically designed to correct distance vision for patients with astigmatism. With a Toric lens you will not need glasses for distance, you will only need glasses for near. This is the best option for patients with high amounts of astigmatism.

✔️If you would like to have better functionality and you want to be glasses-free for distance, computer and near, consider high technology Vivity® lens. It is an Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF) lens. It is designed to give your eye a better range of focus compared to a basic monofocal lens so you can see more things without glasses. You will not need glasses for intermediate vision and you will find it easier to see things when you are shopping in the store, reading on the computer screen, and seeing your car dashboard. The technology in the Vivity® lens supports your vision in low light so you will experience fewer negative side effects such as glare and halos around lights at night. With Vivity® lens you will not need glasses for distance, computer, and near. You may still need glasses for very small print.
