A small, intimate group offered free of charge by a retired, licensed counselor certified in grief counseling to provide a much-needed service. Call or text Tom at 908-347-8826. Tom will call you with meeting dates, location, and answer any questions you may have.

The Gateway Center for Counseling provides counseling for those with mental health issues with a specialization in substance abuse for users and loved ones. Also providing certified counseling in grief and bereavement.

Our next addiction bereavement retreat weekend is not until April 26-28, 2019 and we have already received enough commitments to fill the all the openings. We have started a waiting list, which will probably be used, considering plans change for people this far in advance. If you are interested please contact this office at 908-665-1000

Presented at a sponsored luncheon with two colleagues on Addiction Bereavement. It was well received and we were asked to do it again in another part of the state.

Great News! I have been asked to be a contributing author in a new book by Darcy Harris, Ph.D, Associate Professor Kings University College, Ontario Canada. I met Ms. Harris at the annual conference by the Association on Death Education and Counseling. She is one of the leaders in the field on grief counseling. I discussed with her then the work I am doing on addiction bereavement. She seemed genuinely interested and took my card. Last week she contacted me to see if I would be willing to write a chapter on Addiction Grief. I was honored and gladly accepted. I will be one of several international contributors to the book. Deadline is June 2018.

I am very proud and happy to report that the our first Addiction Bereavement Weekend Retreat, now called the Butterfly Retreat, was very successful. Lani and i received a lot of positive feedback, enough to want us to do it again in the future.

I will be a panelist at the New Providence HS symposium on the dangers of opiates in the medicine cabinets as well about substance abuse addiction and its effect on families and loved ones. It will be held at the HS on 3/15 from 7pm 9pm.
