Dearest friends a PSA: the latest realization by many who have already bought "SOLAR ECLIPSE VIEWING GLASSES" is that they have found disclaimers on them specifically saying they are NOT To be used for solar eclipse viewing and further more, there are apparently a HUGE number of fakes out there. Solar Retinopathy is serious business and leads to PERMANENT IRREVERSIBLE VISION LOSS. Even Viewing glasses that state they are ISO 12312-2 international standard filters later come with the warning that they are NOT to be used for the purposes of solar viewing (NASA does state that they are fine, which suggests that the manufacturer may have printed the ISO on the glasses, but did NOT put the real filters in). To Review, NASA has tips for you to view. As an eye doctor who has seen Solar Retinopathy and patients who have irreparably diminished vision from sun gazing, I'd recommend either viewing it on TV or using a Solar Eclipse Pinhole Projector to view it safely.
