how cute is this bump?!?

my client is 27 weeks & feeling all the movements from her little guy lately, her partner has even been able to catch a few kicks! 🥰

This week we are beginning to talk through the process from the beginning of labor, including at home comfort measures and coping, to transitioning to her place of delivery, and how to navigate through the rest of her experience. There’s no way to make a set plan, but with the guidance and support of a doula, she will be able to work her way from start to finish with the knowledge and understanding of the process.

Topics we’re covering-
• at home laboring
• when to head for the hospital
• how to navigate her early labor while admitted
• what comfort measures will be offered and when they will be most beneficially utilized
• things she will benefit from while transitioning
• what she will need directly after delivery
• baby bonding opportunities
• breastfeeding/formula options & support
• day of discharge with her sweet new baby

first- the time changed
then- the full moon partook in an eclipse
now- our pressure systems are shaking with a hurricane approaching the coast

They say things happen in 3’s, sometimes good, sometimes bad 🌪 it’s been a long week for our family and our sweet girl, and most likely yours as well.

But as always, the sun sets, and you snuggle up with your tiny person, and everything is okay again.

This can be interpreted through many of life’s experiences. The sun always sets, and it always rises again. Every day is a new page and a new opportunity to shine.

Trying to conceive can be hard, pregnancy can seem like an eternity, labor may feel like the end of the world, postpartum can be deafening, motherhood can be exhausting. Chances are, at some point of another, you will feel all of these feelings. It is normal to have tough days, or even difficult periods. My point here is that at the end of the day, (or the hour for some of us lol) you made it. You have the opportunity to get up and give it your best the next day, and the day after that too.

Motherhood is hard, but there’s no more rewarding of a feeling than snuggling up with your child and kissing them goodnight, and then good morning too.

These transitions can and will be challenging. You deserve support, friendship, and love, you deserve help and grace through these times. It can feel like the weight of the world is directly on your shoulders, but it’s okay so let others help you carry it.

& sometimes, our babies don’t make it earth side. sometimes our babies stay up in the sky, sometimes they grow as flowers in our gardens, sometimes they are loved & then they are lost.

1 in 4. If you haven’t experienced it, you know someone who has.

Sometimes it’s our friend, our sister, it could be us, sometimes it is your client. There is no baby that goes unacknowledged. There is no woman that goes unseen or unheard.

Life can be so unfair. So tough. Hearts break for babies we’ve never met, but we’ve loved. October is pregnancy & infant loss awareness month, but these babies and these women deserve love and support every single day of the year.

Sending love to all my friends, clients, family, to ANYONE who has been through this.

Hi guys! Just want to give a quick introduction- most of you know me as Alicia George, or now under Mama & the Moon Birth Doula .

After experiencing an incredible birth with my daughter, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it and ways i can help other women achieve their dream births as well.

A majority of the time, labor and birth are looked at as this excruciating, terrifying, sometimes traumatic process that women have to endure. I’m here to tell you it does NOT have to be scary, or anything negative for that matter. We as women hold so much power, and a lot of our birthing rights have been diminished down to a medical emergency.

Childbirth is natural, it is something we were trusted to do, and something we have been given the privilege to experience. It should be one of the most magnificent times of your life, not the most dreaded. There is so much fear and so many terrible stories surrounding pregnancy, labor, and postpartum days.

I am here to help clear this narrative away & restore the empowering feelings that can and should come from this time in your life . As a doula, i work hand in hand with my clients to inform them, help them create a vision, and stick by their side through the thick and thin.

We can walk through your pregnancy, labor/delivery, and postpartum journey together.

A consultation with me-

It can be in person @ your favorite shop, or it can be from the comfort of your own home via FaceTime. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy, just two women getting to know each other & deciding whether or not we would be a good fit for this experience together.

Most of the time, i work from home. However, my *favorite* setting is in a coffee shop, either in person or online with you, as long as there is caffeine involved.

My consultation today was with a mom of two little ones, so it was the most convenient for her to FaceTime from her home. It is whatever, where ever you are the most comfortable.

We went over this mama’s past pregnancy & birth history, she graciously shared her stories with me, and the things she has been through prior to hiring a doula.

We talked about what her dream birth would look like, the setting, the feelings, and the support that she most desires.

She expressed what she needed from a potential doula, the areas she could most benefit in doula support from, and her reasoning for reaching out in the first place.

I explained to her what my job is, as a doula, and the ways i could use my knowledge & experience to help her achieve her birth goals.

We formed a connection, we went over the details, the schedules, the aftermath, and then we decided to go over our own thoughts and later reconnect.

A few hours later, we decided to move forward with contract signing and getting things rolling. Woot woot!!!!

**** It doesn’t always end like this. Sometimes my clients realize a doula might not be beneficial for their journey, and sometimes i realize that their pregnancy and birth visions don’t align with my work. There’s never any hard feelings, there’s no problem, i would rather women reach out and realize what they are after rather than go in blindly and hope for the best. Consultations are free and always embraced. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in hearing more about, shoot me a message or comment below 😊

I am now taking clients due between April-June.

My 4 favorite pregnancy stretches-
(even though my baby has transitioned from belly to back 😅)

1- Hands and knees. feet wide, knees closer= great for pushing.
2. 90/90- opens the mid pelvis
3. Hip circles- opens the top of the pelvis
4. Supported squats- open the bottom of the pelvis.

These 4 stretches in any order will help to get your pelvis strengthened and opened for labor. These can be done daily throughout pregnancy but especially from 37 weeks and up!
