July - August: Slack line challenge!
I do like a challenge. It is my way of maintaining some . And I like even more connecting all the different facets of my life: , , , , , , , and ...
So... what could encapsulate all of these better than getting back on my slackline? I ask you.
I set up in our beautiful Prospect Park, I handpick the best relaxing meditative playlist, and I focus on balancing for a couple of hours.
Alignment, center of mass, breathing, core muscles, pushing boundaries: these are all terms my students are, I am sure, tired of hearing from me! Well, I decided to put them in action all together, in the most fun way possible.
I will keep you updated (as soon as I achieve more than 2 steps on it!)

The NY Choral Consortium Annual Big Sing
This year, all choristers who wanted, like every year, to gather and sight read together, got to sing the Brahms German Requiem. Now, if you know me, you also know that, at the , we started the year with our spectacular 100th Anniversary Concert and it was: The Brahms German Requiem.
As a former conductor of Dessoff, was a guest conductor for our anniversary concert.
And as a prominent NYC choral conductor, he was of course part of the Big Sing (where each movement of a piece is conducted by a different chef).
So, what better way for me to bookend the year, than to sing in October AND in June, the Brahms German Requiem, with Kent Tritle!
(In addition, I got to sing Beethoven 9 with the conducted by... , in October.)
A pure dream...

Le Bénin s’invite au Jardin21 pour deux jours de fête libre et généreuse

Un festival en plein air, une fête nationale, et tout un pays à découvrir. Les 1er et 2 août, le devient le théâtre vivant de la culture béninoise avec le festival Wa Bénin. Concerts live, contes traditionnels, spécialités à déguster, défilé et expo : tout est réuni pour une immersion joyeuse et chaleureuse, aux portes de Paris.

Organisé par l’association WA BÉNIN, l’événement célèbre l’indépendance du pays en mettant en avant ses voix, ses récits, sa cuisine et ses créations. Loin des clichés, Wa Bénin invite à la rencontre et à la curiosité, dans un cadre festif et accessible.
