Within Summit 2024: “Reflections of Wellness: Healing from Within and Celebrating Body Inclusivity” starts Monday! I am thrilled and honored to be taking part in this year’s events, hosted by Within, a leader in remote eating disorder treatment.

Within Summit exists to encourage continued education and collaboration between care providers and care communicators for a more inclusive clinical experience for everybody - everywhere.
‍
The summit offers an accessible and inclusive platform for reimagining mental and behavioral health care. Within Summit highlights cutting-edge advancements in eating disorder treatment, explores the rise of telehealth as a treatment platform, examines the media’s growing role and influence, and discusses the pivotal contributions of payers in shaping the future of behavioral and mental health care.

Within embraces the idea that real healing starts from within-and it’s all about respecting and accepting *every* body.

By promoting body inclusivity, they aim to dismantle harmful stereotypes about eating disorders and foster a treatment environment where every body is valued, seen, and supported. Through this, they create not just a culture of acceptance, but also a commitment to reshaping how we understand eating disorders and the recovery journey.

As treatment providers, healthcare professionals, and care communicators, it’s our collective responsibility to provide inclusive, patient-centered care that honors each individual’s unique journey and experience with an eating disorder.

Join Within on this mission and journey to create truly inclusive spaces that honor and uplift all body types. Together, we can reshape the cultural narrative around health, weight, and eating disorders, and pave the way for a future where every body is celebrated.

If there is one topic that surfaces quite often in sessions, it is the quandary of work life balance.

We live in a world where we are constantly exposed to the highlight reels of others’ lives, facing relentless pressure to excel and be as productive as possible, all while juggling the demands of everyday life.

This glorification of being excessive in our work ethic leads to the notion that if we are not uber-productive, we are “lazy and unmotivated”. Heaven-forbid we sleep late, spend a Sunday in our PJs, or rot on the couch binge-watching TV. The next day we beat ourselves up and go overboard to compensate for what we didn’t do the day before.

We’ve been conditioned to think that if we take a break or press pause, we are doing something wrong, and if we are crazy busy, we are doing it right. The problem with living on auto-pilot without ever slowing down or taking a break, is that it ultimately leads to burnout. This leaves us with little energy to do much at all, and can potentially wreak havoc on our mental and emotional health, as well as our relationships.

One of the most difficult parts in challenging the go-go-go mentality, is knowing you are entitled to rest and granting yourself permission to set boundaries with yourself and others. Finding a healthy balance involves acknowledging you are worthy of prioritizing yourself and engaging in self-care. Sometimes it is as simple as reminding ourselves to breathe and press pause. You don’t have to be perfect. In fact, you won’t be, because perfection is unattainable. You CAN set realistic expectations for yourself, and grant yourself grace and compassion. You don’t have to do it all. Embrace the power of the pause 🙏🏼⏸️

I am honored to have had the opportunity to spend the most wonderful day and evening with these exceptional Eating Disorder specialists. This was an indelible experience for me, both personally and professionally. The culmination of a life goal I had been fighting for and striving towards for well over a decade. To say this journey did not come easy is an immense understatement. A tremendous amount of devotion, work, diligence, patience, and tears went into this process. I am deeply grateful for the compassion and support of these incredible women ( !!), and feel blessed to now sit side by side with them.

Tremendous gratitude to .mckenzie .nido and .hope for bringing together such talented clinicians in the ED community, whom I now can proudly say are my colleagues. These women radiate such warmth, compassion, and positivity; it is no surprise why they are so brilliant at what they do! I truly hope this was merely the first of many occasions we will share together, and am genuinely enthusiastic at the possibility of exciting opportunities ahead! 🙏🏼🤝

Gentle Reminders to inspire you 🙏🏼

“When you dig into the etymology of the word ‘confidence’, you’ll find that the Latin root of confidence means ‘full trust’. So, when we’re confident about our ability to do something or confident that we can face a fear, really, at the end of the day, it requires that we have trust. Not just ordinary trust, but full trust.”
~ Jessica Flint on the true meaning of ‘confidence’
