"Take Charge of Your Health" webinars are back! This series of three webinars was created by a long term HIV survivor to help people with HIV become active partners in their health care, rather than passive patients. When it comes to HIV, knowledge = power!

The first one will discuss how HIV treatment has changed and what's in the pipeline (including injectable HIV meds), dispel myths about HIV meds, and address the search for a cure.

All information is presented in jargon-free, easy to understand language, to ensure everyone comes away with a clear grasp of the info. Hope you can join us!

Ever wonder why so many of us become resistant to our HIV meds?

Ever have questions about how to read your lab results?

The first section of this webinar will discuss how HIV can develop resistance to HIV meds and describe steps that can be taken to avoid it. The second section will help participants understand how to interpret lab reports and discuss them with care providers.

As a result of this training, people will be able to:

-Define mutation and how it can lead to drug resistance
-Explain wild type and mutant virus
-Describe peak and trough levels and what happens when a dose is missed
-Describe genotype and phenotype testing
-Describe parts of a sample lab report
-Identify common blood tests: RBC, WBC, platelets
-Define the difference between CD4 count and CD4%
-Identify tips for getting consistent lab tests

Link will be emailed to those who have registered. Make sure your email program does not put Eventbrite emails in the spam folder!
