Start the year by fostering vigor and resilience as we explore approaches to the variations of Virabhadrasana (Warrior Pose) and Virasana (Hero Pose).
The warrior Virabhadra is mentioned in the ancient Indian poem Kumarasambhava. B.K.S. Iyengar writes that "Virabhadrasana, the asana that bears the name of this powerful warrior, has three forms. These three postures exude the dynamism of the character of their namesake. They energise and revitalise not only the practitioner, but also the onlooker."
Iyengar also writes that "Virasana is one of the most important asanas." It "helps to achieve stability" and "helps to build the courage and will to fight our daily battles."
During the workshop we will explore approaches to these poses that make them more accessible and increase understanding of their shapes and actions.
