Author of 📘 "Overcoming The Mother Wound" available NOW. I am passionate about finding creative ways to connect, heal, and learn. As a licensed Art and Trauma Therapist, I love working with people and being part of their healing experience. I developed this space, CHI Creative Healing Integration ™, from what I believe is my soul’s purpose. After having a private in-person practice for over 20 yea

rs, I leaped into the online world as a venue to reach even more people. Creative Healing Integration has become a place where there are a variety of offerings and resources. You’ll find courses, guided meditations, and creative exercises to bring calm, clarity, and comfort. Coming from a trauma-informed background, I am aware of the healing powers that lie within, the courage and grace required to heal from adversity. This phenomenon is expressed in the Dahlia flower, which I honor as the Creative Healing Integration, Inc., logo.

There is something a circle knows about you that words sometimes cannot reach.

The MARI Mandala has been used in art therapy for decades. Not only as an assessment, but as a mirror for the inner world.

A way of asking: where are you right now. What are you carrying. What is ready to move.

On May 17, I am hosting a live 2-hour workshop to introduce you to this framework. We will explore the Great Round, trace its 12 stages, and make a mandala together.

Whether you are a clinician looking for new tools, or simply someone curious about what the circle might show you. You are welcome here.

If this month felt more tender than expected, you are not alone.

Stage 4 of the MARI Mandala is one of the most emotionally layered thresholds in the Great Round. It holds the excitement of beginning alongside the vulnerability of not yet knowing how.

It can stir old questions about worth and permission. It can bring a longing for support that surprises you. It can make the simplest beginning feel enormous.

None of that means you are doing something wrong.

It means something real is emerging.

Something that matters enough to feel uncertain about.

You do not have to begin with certainty. You only have to begin.

Every year April does this.

The trees do not announce what is coming. There is no ceremony. No dramatic beginning.

And then one day you notice that the branches are no longer bare.

Something changed while you were not watching. Something was moving in the quiet.

Stage 4 of the MARI Mandala works this way too. The emergence is rarely loud. It is tender, gradual, and sometimes so subtle you almost miss it.

But it is real.

If you have the feeling that something in you is beginning, even if you cannot quite name it yet, pay attention to that.

That is not your imagination. That is the season working through you.

What quiet emergence are you noticing in yourself this April?

Five questions for April.

Take one. Take all of them. Return to them more than once.

What is beginning to emerge in me now?

What wants to come into the light?

What am I ready to choose?

Where do I need support, care, or nurturing right now?

What part of me is still asking for permission to begin?

These are Stage 4 questions. They do not demand quick answers. They ask for a kind of honest, unhurried attention.

Bring them to your journal. Bring them to your mandala. Bring them to the quiet.

Something in you is ready to be heard.

If beginning feels less like a dramatic leap and more like standing at the edge of yourself with shaky hands and a hopeful heart, that makes sense.

That is Stage 4.

April is not asking you to have it all figured out. It is not asking you to arrive fully formed or to start with strength and certainty.

It is asking you to notice what is just beginning, and to respond with steadiness rather than force.

This is not a time to demand full bloom.

It is a time to support what is breaking through.

What in you is just beginning to break through right now?

Stage 3 held many possibilities. Stage 4 asks for a choice.

And choice changes everything.

To choose is to begin shaping a path. To say yes to one thing and, at least for now, no to others. To claim your right to unfold.

That is why Stage 4 can stir up so much emotion.

Because the question underneath it is rarely just, "What do I want to begin?"

It is deeper than that.

"Do I really have the right to begin? Do I have the right to take up space? To follow this impulse? To bring something of mine into the world?"

These questions do not come from the surface mind alone. They arise from old layers. Early layers. Relational layers.

If April feels tender, that makes sense.

You are not beginning something small.

Here is something the MARI teaches that I find quietly relieving.

Whenever we are on the edge of growth, some part of us often wants to go backward before going forward.

We want certainty before movement. We want someone else to decide. We want to stay in the space of possibility rather than face the discomfort of actually choosing.

Stage 3 held many possibilities. Stage 4 asks for a choice.

And that shift, from possibility to choice, is one of the most tender crossings in the entire Great Round.

This is not resistance. This is not failure. This is part of the cycle.

The pull toward retreat is not a sign that you are going the wrong direction. It is a sign you are right at the edge of something real.

What choice has been waiting for you to make it?

April asks us to begin.

Not boldly. Not perfectly. But honestly, with shaky hands and a hopeful heart.

In this month's video, I explore Stage 4 of the MARI Mandala and why this season is such a powerful threshold for healing, choice, and emergence. I also share a somatic practice you can try right now to feel into what is just beginning in you.

Watch through the link in my bio.

There is something deeper inside Stage 4 that I want to name.

This stage does not just hold the energy of new beginnings in a general sense. It also touches a very early developmental pattern. The mother and child relationship.

At this threshold, something can arise that feels like longing. A longing for support. For reassurance. For permission to begin.

And alongside that longing, sometimes a pull to wait. To stay still. To let someone else tell you what to do next.

If you have ever felt like you needed permission to start something, to take up space, to follow an impulse that was deeply yours, Stage 4 may be speaking to that place in you.

This is not a flaw. It is a fingerprint of early experience.

And healing it begins with noticing.

Where in your life are you still waiting for someone to say it is okay to begin?

When something new is trying to come into being, it needs a container.

It needs enough safety to unfold.

Stage 4 of the MARI Mandala reminds us that beginning is not just a mental act. It is a whole body experience. And the body needs support to take that first step.

Rest matters here. Food matters. Rhythm matters. Encouragement matters.

This is not extra. This is foundational.

If you have been wondering why beginning feels harder than it should, it may not be a lack of motivation. It may be that your system needs more tenderness before it feels safe enough to start.

What would it look like to support yourself today as if something precious were beginning?
