For those who think they can "burn away" a piece of cheese cake with strenous excercise... Our bodies simply don't work that way. Many studies have conclusively proven that excercise, while crucial for maintaining ideal body weight and general health, does very little for weight loss. There is no substitute for a proper diet.

Before resorting to drugs that interfere with light receptors in the eyes, try eliminating foods that contain high levels of Tyramine (derived from amino acid Tyrosine), especially if you are on Monoamine Oxydase inhibitor therapy. Tyramine-rich foods are known to cause hypertension and throbbing headaches. Elimination of such foods can be a highly effective primary treatment of migraines in individuals sensitive to this substance. ImmunoHealth Ed.

A mouse study gives hope to researchers who may soon develop a drug that blocks melanopsin receptors, potentially helping people with light-sensitivity from headaches.

Although generally berries do have an anti-inflammatory effect, you have to be cautious with berries you buy in North America. Specifically, most blueberries and strawberries you buy in grocery stores here are genetically modified (hint, you will never find blueberries half-inch in diameter or strawberries the size of a large walnut in nature). Genetically modified berries and other foods may, in fact, exacerbate an inflammatory response in the body, and in severe cases may even lead to anaphylactic shock.

For a food to make it to Dr. Weil's favorite list, it has to cover all the bases: anti-inflammatory, delicious, versatile and widely available.
