When we look back at times when you overcame a stressful or even temporarily debilitating situation, you’ll conclude that each time your feelings about the situation had colored perception. You were most likely discouraged, frustrated, and scared. But when you reverse your assumptions, you’ll eventually look at the situations differently. Instead of accepting any self-imposed limitations it starts with nothing more than saying, “I will succeed”. This begins the positive process of putting things together. This simple process really works and is one that can help you take control of a stress causing problem more easily that you can imagine. 212-308-1666 robertschachter.com

Since you are faced with a challenge, it’s time to identify your assumptions about your problem. This step is the key. Our assumptions are the both the result of how we see the possibilities, and they also shape our actions in response. By listing your assumptions, you know what you are up against. Assumptions provide the outside boundary of perceived possibility. They are limiters.
By reversing those assumptions, you free yourself from the limitation and open your mind to possibility. By determining how you can make the reversals happen, you put together your plans of action. If you want a demonstration of the correct way to do this contact my office. 212-308-1666 robertschachter.com

ASK SO WHAT.

This line of inquiry addresses the implications of the situation you find yourself in.

- Start by identifying the situation that is stressful.

- State it as a problem to be solved.

- Ask “So What?”

- Take that answer and ask, “So What?” again.

- Repeat this three more times.

The awesome payoff to these steps is soon coming! 212-308-1666 robertschachter.com

ASK WHY. Although it may sound simplistic, I have an exercise for you that digs into the meaning of the problem that makes it stressful. Proceeding through the tunnel of “whys” often gives you a different insight into a solution.
1. START by identifying the situation that is stressful.
2. STATE it as a problem to be solved.
3. DETERMINE what is problematic.
4. ASK WHY it is a problem.
Take that answer and ask why again.
Repeat this three more times.
This exercise explores the depth of the problem and demonstrates aspects of its effects. I’m here to help. 212-308-1666 robertschachter.com

Part -2 As you apply these steps to a problem, you will find that you have opened new pathways to solving it and changing the situation. You need to get to the basic core of it by digging down. My next post will provide a useful technique to understand the depth by using the “4 Whys”. 212-308-1666 robertschachter.com
