Our Century of Black History Tea Party was an inspiring afternoon of reflection, leadership, and meaningful dialogue. We were honored to welcome Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, Joy Bivins of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, New York Public Library, and Senator Cordell Cleare for a powerful conversation on visibility, mentorship, and Black history through the lens of culture, representation, and leadership. Special thanks to Assemblymember Eddie Gibbs for continuing to show up in support of Metropolitan and for taking the time to welcome our staff.
We also made sure to continue the celebration with our overnight team so they could feel a part of the day’s festivities. Creating space for everyone to share in the experience — no matter their shift — truly mattered to us.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating the stories and shared wisdom that continue to shape future generations.
