My office is a safe and judgment free space where my clients can talk openly about the challenges they face. I utilize a holistic therapeutic approach which explores my client’s whole self. This includes their physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social being. Participating in therapy does not remove or eliminate life's challenges; however, it can help clients learn strategies and coping mechanisms to deal with them. I concentrate on my client’s strengths, using CBT, as well as other treatment modalities.

I have over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families. I've worked as a Certified School Psychologist for the NYC Public School System for the past 23 years, while attaining two master's degrees and one Professional Diploma. I have a vast amount of experience working with clients from diverse cultural and social economic backgrounds.

In addition, I am a National Anger Management Specialist Level 2 and a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP).

Shameik Lalanne (Our Team)
Clinical Social Worker / Therapist, LMSW
My goal is to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health and work with clients to overcome life’s obstacles. Working with children, adolescents, and adults, I aim to create a safe space based on trust, respect, and security. I believe that empowerment comes from understanding the role of our unexpected and sometimes painful experiences in our lives. Through therapy, I support my clients in building resilience, facing difficulties, and understanding what they are capable of achieving.
I strive to cultivate a supportive environment focused on recognizing unhelpful thought processes while gaining self-awareness and coping abilities. I utilize Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My specialties are centered around anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger management, life transitions, and relationship issues.

I have worked as social worker in the NYC Public School System for over 12 years. During this time, I obtained dual licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker in New York and Connecticut. I am also certified in Applied Behavioral Analysis and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools. I look forward to speaking and creating a trusting connection with you.

The past does not define you and your future is unwritten. Be proud of who you are in the moment. - Paola Merrill
This quote is meaningful to me because I have had to overcome my fears and learn to be proud of who I am in the moment. I try to convey that philosophy through my counseling interventions with my clients. I am in partnership with my clients in using their strengths to build their self-confidence and identifying their weaknesses to work on in their self-improvement plan.

I bring a unique combination of experience and education to be a mentor to others and help them overcome obstacles to lead a fulfilling life, learning to value themselves and practice self-care to enhance self-esteem and be successful advocates for themselves to achieve their goals and fulfill their dreams. I am grateful for people in my life who inspired me to follow my heart and attain educational plateaus to become a positive role model for others. I had to overcome my own fear of change and going back to school late in life to strive for an advanced degree not only as a personal and professional achievement, but also to have a greater impact in making a difference in the lives of others.

The uniqueness of the therapy I provide combines my knowledge of psychotherapy, treatment models of CBT and other treatment modalities along with nutrition and holistic health enhancement such as mindfulness and positive thinking to promote overall well-being with relaxation techniques and natural remedies in advocating for life changing personal practices that will improve overall health as all our parts are intertwined and having sickness in one part affects the whole.
