Say hi Jen Pia, our newest Case Manager! 👋 You may have spotted her in our recent team photos—now you get to know just how awesome she is:

“Jen is mom to three young adults (her favorite people in the world), and has been a gestational surrogate twice (a huge source of joy in her life.) She joined Brownstone after 14 years of working as a midwife at a birth center and in homes. Pivoting out of healthcare and into another field that still focuses on family formation has been a delight. Parenting and supporting other folks on their journeys to parenting have been lifelong passions for her.

Jen currently lives in the desert of Eastern Washington with her sweetie, their two cats, and their dog, but she will always consider herself a Vermonter, as this is where she spent most of her adult life. She is not a fan of winter.

She has a BA in Motherhood and Sustainable Living, an MA in Radical Alternative Education, and is still a nationally credentialed midwife (licensed in WA and VT.) Her hobbies include the ocean, coffee, babies, camping, nature, and being nerdy about pregnancy, birth, babies, and family.”

Introducing the sweetest NICU grad we’ve ever laid eyes on, Brennick! GC Michelle and IPs Mike & Tyler are all happy and healthy, blissed out, and recovering. The love & friendship evident in this dream team surely had something to do with how cute this baby is—it’s just science. This is what it’s all about: all the needles, waiting, tests, and waiting. We hope you enjoy these beautiful photos of superhero Michelle, the deserving dads, and the little angel they collaborated to bring into the world. 👨‍🎓 🩵 🥹

Did you know that Jarret, our executive director, is also an attorney? ⚖️

While Jarret stepped back from his legal practice upon founding Brownstone, he stays closely connected with surrogacy attorneys around the country and helps guide our surrogates and intended parents through the legal process. Last month, Jarret joined amazing colleagues on panel in Montreal about managing attorney and client expectations through a surrogacy journey and later at a event on the New York surrogacy law and its effects on LGBTQ+ parentage over the past 4 years. 🏳️‍🌈 ✨

Some of our surros went for an anatomy scan at their local clinic—oops, sorry, some of our surros went *trick or treating in their neighborhood.* By next year, these little skeletons will be little pumpkins! 🥹🎃 For now, they get to enjoy Milky Ways and Almond Joys in the warmth of the VIP suite. 💫

On Oct 1st, our partners at launched not one, but TWO national surrogacy grants.

In partnership with , the Hatch Full Journey Grant covers nearly every stage of the process from agency support and carrier compensation to legal clearance— setting a new standard for what’s possible.

Alongside the Hatch Full Journey Grant is the The Surrogacy Foundation National Grant, a $100,000 grant that TSF has given away twice in Georgia and now to a national audience. It was created to break down the barriers that keep so many families from pursuing surrogacy.

We are proud to celebrate The Surrogacy Foundation and Hatch Fertility as the trailblazers making this moment possible. Two grants. Two chances to change everything. 🤎 If you have been looking for a sign, this is it!
