“The dark cloud lifted—and I got my life back.”
Opioid addiction can feel like a dark cloud—pulling you away from your joy and the people you love. But treatment can ease withdrawal, reduce cravings, and help your body heal.
That’s why the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and FPHNYC partner with trusted community providers to expand access to opioid treatments and provide support that gets you back on track and brings back hope.
Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day—a time to reflect on his commitment to justice, equality and community well-being. One of the best ways to honor his legacy is by giving back to your community.
Starting the new year by bringing the team together 🎉
Yesterday, we celebrated with our annual FPHNYC holiday party featuring a get-to-know-your-coworkers bingo game, Pictionary, and dinner at Da Claudio —a longtime favorite in Lower Manhattan! The food was excellent, the games added a fun dose of friendly competition, and it was a great opportunity to connect outside the office!
Congrats to our bingo champions 🏆 and thanks to everyone who helped bring it all together!

Your Health Is Worth Protecting.
Screenings for breast, cervical, colorectal, and lung cancer can help protect your future. In fact, deaths from screenable cancers in NYC have declined by nearly 20% since 2015.
The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and FPHNYC are building on that progress by working to reduce barriers to cancer screening and prevention services across NYC. So you have more time, more health, and more possibilities ahead.

The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) was created in 2002 as an independent nonprofit organization with the purpose of connecting the NYC Health Department to private sector partners and the greater philanthropic community. These partnerships enable innovation that make our city healthier and safer for all.
Our mission is to incubate innovative public health initiatives that lead to improved health for all New Yorkers.
Mobilize
We mobilize the philanthropic community and facilitate partnerships between the public and private sector to develop, test, and launch new projects.
Innovate
We incubate innovative public health programs in partnership with the NYC Health Department to advance health across the city.
Collaborate
We collaborate with our partners to expand pilot projects, support agile implementation, and report on success.
With strategic collaboration, we can reduce inequity and achieve better health outcomes for everyone. Our unique model connects experts at the NYC Health Department with private sector and philanthropic partners to pilot innovative initiatives that would otherwise not be possible. These collaborations test out new ideas that, when successful, can be scaled and replicated across the city and around the country.
All of this is done to achieve our vision of a city where all New Yorkers share equitably in a culture of healthy living and enjoy optimal health.
Thanks to our donors, we have raised more than $450 million to support over 300 projects since our founding in 2002. FPHNYC supports projects across all areas of public health, with a special focus on two key priority areas in 2020: supporting healthy mothers and babies and fighting epidemics.
