Yes. Having PCOS does not mean you can't get pregnant. PCOS is one of the most common, but treatable, causes of infertility in women. In women with PCOS, the hormonal imbalance interferes with the growth and release of eggs from the ovaries (ovulation). If you don't ovulate, you can't get pregnant. Your doctor can talk with you about ways to help you ovulate and to raise your chance of getting pregnant.

What is secondary infertility?

Secondary infertility is the inability to conceive a child or carry a pregnancy to full term after previously giving birth.

This can be especially hard for anyone that already had to overcome fertility struggles to give birth.

But that doesn't mean this hurdle can't be overcome either.

And knowing how it starts is how you can continue your fertility journey successfully.

Some of the causes of secondary infertility are:
- fallopian tube damage
- ovulation disorders
- endometriosis
- other uterine conditions
- age
- weight

, meet Nnenna, who recently joined the Generation Next Fertility team as a Medical Scribe and Clinical Assistant!

Nnenna recently graduated from UVA with a degree in Biology and a Bioethics minor.

As someone who loves theory and imagining all the different ways things like healthcare can be restructured, she's most excited to learn more about the reality of what healthcare actually entails, because knowing how things are is just as important as thinking about how they could be (leave a like πŸ‘ if you agree!)

"Clinical research was a major part of my undergraduate experience so I’m excited to hopefully participate in research during my time at Generation Next Fertility!"

Nnenna spends her free time painting, baking, and going on walks.

Leave a comment "Hi!" to Nnenna!

Meet Julia, our of the week! She is from the Bay Area, but is now a proud New Yorker. Julia completed her BS in Neuroscience and minor in Gender and Health from the University of Michigan last year.

Julia became passionate about Women's Health during her first Women's Health class. She then interned for a non-profit organization that is creating Detroit's first birth center with the goal of combating poor birth outcomes.

Julia is also trained in prenatal, birthing, and postpartum doula support and she also served as a personal care assistant for a young lady suffering from a rare neurological disorder.

Julia is also a skilled writer. She has co-authored several publications, including a paper with Michigan Center for Hand Outcomes and Innovative Research (M-CHOIR), "A Systematic Review of Health Disparities Research in Plastic Surgery" (2021).

Julia wants to be an OBGYN. Her favorite part about Generation Next Fertility is being able to offer women autonomy in their family building journey through creative and personalized healthcare.

When she's not in the office, Julia can be found drawing, painting, working out, reading a book, or exploring the city!

Leave a like or comment to say Hi to Julia!

Today is πŸ‘Όand we'd like to take this day to express the immense gratitude to our staff and patients.

We sometimes get called angels by our patients as we help them bring their own precious baby angels into the world.

It is a great honor that we do not take lightly and everyone at Generation Next Fertility strives to do the best we can to help people make miracles happen.

Thank you again for putting your trust in us πŸ˜‡

Meet our of the week Victoria! She is a proud New Yorker πŸ—½, a twin πŸ‘―, and first-generation student who received her Bachelor of Science from Brandeis University in Biology and Health Sciences πŸŽ“

While pursuing her undergrad, Victoria was a clinical research assistant at Mount Sinai Hospital and has published research in the fields of pediatric endocrinology and emergency medicine. She was also a a teaching assistant for Biology Lab during undergrad, and her favorite part of it was learning that education has the ability to transcend language and cultural barriers (just like healthcare should!) One of her proudest accomplishments during her college career was serving as President of the Taiwanese Students Association, where she put on events to promote cultural awareness and diversity on campus.

During the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Victoria also conducted public health research which focused on how social determinants of health influenced treatment for adolescents diagnosed COVID-19.

What she likes most about being part of the Generation Next Fertility team is interacting with patients from different backgrounds. "Each each fertility journey is unique and intimate, and it's a great honor to be apart of that!"
