Consider this your official doctor’s prescription to sit on the couch and laugh. 🍿 (Yes, you finally have a medical excuse to avoid true crime and sad movies!)

Laughter naturally shifts your body into a “rest and digest” parasympathetic state (so does acupuncture!), which is one of the reasons it is so helpful for fertility, especially during IVF cycles and embryo transfers.

What are you watching for a good laugh right now? Drop your recommendations below!

Hi! I’m Dr. Mary Sabo, the founder of Lily + Horn and a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. I’m also a mother, a researcher, and an entrepreneur.

I’ve been practicing since 2007 and am passionate about the results acupuncture, herbal medicine, evidence-based supplements, nutrition, and mental health support alongside modern medical care can achieve. This integrative approach is what helped me conceive my son at 43 with eggs I froze at 38. We’ve got many new faces here, so I’d love to hear from you! Ask me anything (comment here). If you’re new here, welcome 💚

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), spring is associated with the Liver system, making it an ideal time to assist your body’s natural detox processes and build nutrient-rich blood – essential steps for balancing hormones, supporting fertility, and boosting your everyday energy.

Here are a few key herbs to help support your spring reset 🌿

Dandelion Root (Pu Gong Ying): Gently detoxifies while supporting liver and gallbladder function.

Burdock Root (Niu Bang Zi): Purifies the blood and helps remove toxins.

Milk Thistle (Shui Fei Ji): Protects and regenerates liver cells.

Schisandra Berry (Wu Wei Zi): Reduces stress and enhances overall vitality.

Chrysanthemum (Ju Hua): Detoxifies the liver and supports eye health.

Goji Berries: Promotes healthy liver function.

When our founder, Dr. Mary Sabo, was navigating her own IVF cycles, she found peace in an unlikely place: vampire romance novels.

It sounds counterintuitive, but it was her version of survival. In the middle of a process that feels so heavy and personal, sometimes you just need to get lost in a world that is completely separate from your own.

The lesson? Don’t forget to nourish the parts of you that have nothing to do with fertility. Whether it’s a hobby, a ritual, or a really good book – give yourself permission to step away. 💚

Did you know that Lily + Horn acupuncturists are also herbalists?

Our herbal pharmacy was developed to specifically support reproductive health, and all formulas are custom-blended for each patient.
Herbal medicine provides the body with phytochemicals (the active compounds found naturally in plants). When taken daily, they help encourage specific change in the body such as decreasing inflammation, improving circulation, balancing hormones, improving mood, sleep and digestion.

When you are trying to conceive, it’s easy to focus entirely on the end goal. But your menstrual cycle is always giving you subtle clues about your reproductive health.
Subfertility – a delay in conceiving where natural pregnancy is possible, but takes longer than average – isn’t always obvious. Sometimes, it shows up quietly through changes in your cycle or health.

At Lily + Horn, we believe those signs matter. We use a variety of tools to detect imbalances and improve fertility naturally. Our care is whole-body and deeply personalized. We offer acupuncture, nutrition counseling, mental health support, Somatic Experiencing, Naturopathy, vitamin and NAD+ injections.

We’re here to support you, every step of the way. 💚

Many women don’t realize they have endometriosis until it interferes with their fertility.

Some women with endo conceive and carry to term easily. Because of this, it’s rarely checked during initial fertility testing. Sadly, it’s often only considered after someone has already undergone many IVF treatments or miscarriages without success.

Whether you are managing daily symptoms, trying to conceive naturally, or undergoing IVF, the team at Lily + Horn is experienced in supporting patients with endometriosis and improving outcomes. Have questions about how we can help? Send us a DM 💚

Period cramps can range from distracting to debilitating, but we want you to know you don’t have to live with them!🩸

At Lily + Horn, we offer integrative treatment options like acupuncture, naturopathy, nutrition, and herbal therapy to help balance your hormones, reduce cramping, and regulate your cycle. Big bonus...PMS symptoms often dissipate too.

Remember: Painful periods are not always “normal” and you shouldn’t be told to just push through them. If you’re experiencing severe pelvic pain, pain during s*x, or heavy or abnormal periods, it could be a sign of an underlying condition like endometriosis. Seeking support is a sign of strength, so please make an appointment to see your doctor.
