Join Executive Producer, Lynn Barger Elliott, as we begin with the “in-between spaces” - those transitions we experience in our families, health, workplaces, and relationships. Future episodes will reflect upon transformations, when we no longer find ourselves in-between, and the gifts which appear, such as drying our wings and finishing strong.

This week the Completed Life Initiative is remembering Lynda Bluestein, who died on January 4th, 2024 at the time of her own choosing. Her commitment to a patient’s right to direct their end-of-life care led her to successfully challenge the State of Vermont for the right of non-residents to access Medical Aid in Dying. On August 19th, 2023, Mark Barger Elliott interviewed Lynda at the CLI Film Festival in New York City. At that same event, we proudly and gratefully recognized her passionate advocacy with the Completed Life Initiative Pioneer Award. You can view that interview via the link below:

What opportunities are presented to us at the end of our lives? Having unfinished business can be a gift. When we face mortality, whether our own or that of a loved one, we can be motivated to do things we never would have done and say things we always wanted to say.
In the second episode of our podcast, GIFTS OF THE COMPLETED LIFE, our hosts weave together lessons from Broyard, Aristotle, our Fall Conference speakers Jennifer Senior and Anita Hannig, and the film THE BUCKET LIST – to explore how we reckon with our unfinished business when nearing or experiencing a completed life.

In December, we are excited to offer two opportunities to join the "Friends of CLI" in both New York and California.
On Friday, December 8th, Friends of CLI in the New York City area are invited to join us at the Cafe of the Rubin Museum of Art for the popular K2Friday Nights program – which includes free admission to the museum, guided tours, cocktails, light appetizers, and music with a DJ. At 6:30PM, our group will enjoy a private tour of the acclaimed DEATH IS NOT THE END (on exhibit through January 2024), which explores notions of death and afterlife through the art of Tibetan Buddhism and Christianity.
On Wednesday, December 13th, Friends of CLI in the Bay Area are invited to a screening of LAST FLIGHT HOME, the Emmy-nominated film directed by Ondi Timoner, a two-time Sundance Award winner. The film renders the story of Ondi's father, who elects to use Medical Aid-in-Dying in California, and the meaningful farewell created by his family. The screening and Q&A will be hosted at Stanford University in Palo Alto.
