Biomarker Spotlight: hs-CRP (High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein)

We measure hs-CRP levels to catch chronic low-grade inflammation early—often before symptoms appear—because “inflammaging” accelerates cellular damage and increases disease risk.

Elevated hs-CRP is linked to faster cognitive decline, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic dysfunction.

Optimal range: < 1.0 mg/L for longevity and metabolic health

How to improve it: Anti-inflammatory diet rich in omega-3s, regular movement, quality sleep, stress management, provider-supervised medical interventions, and targeted supplementation

Check out these five rituals to incorporate every day.

Insulin sensitivity is the foundation of metabolic efficiency.

Even small amounts of insulin can move glucose into muscle and liver cells.

But when a body is less sensitive to insulin, glucose lingers in the bloodstream, and the pancreas releases even more insulin to get the job done.

Over time, this leads to fatigue, weight gain, inflammation, and eventually diabetes or heart disease if left unchecked.

Your Parsley clinician can assess your metabolism’s efficiency by measuring fasting insulin, blood sugar, hemoglobin A1C, and triglycerides — the same labs that detect early blood sugar imbalance.

Patterns of elevated insulin or inflammation suggest your metabolism needs support.

Biomarker Spotlight: GGT

GGT is your liver’s real-time holiday stress signal. This enzyme reflects how taxed your detox pathways are, especially from alcohol, sugar, and late nights.

When it’s elevated: This is an early sign of oxidative stress, inflammation, and glutathione depletion — long before other liver markers budge.

Optimal: As low as possible within the lab’s reference range; higher levels indicate liver burden and oxidative stress.

How to improve it:
✔️ Reduce alcohol to 0–2 occasions weekly
✔️ Choose natural wines, clear spirits, or NA alternatives
✔️ Support detox pathways with NAC, milk thistle, methylated B-vitamins, and ALA
✔️ Eat vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, and arugula, high-fiber meals, and plenty of protein
✔️ Hydrate

Even modest increases in alcohol, sugar, and late nights can nudge GGT upward.

Testing gives you clarity early, so you can protect your liver and feel better now.

Curious where you stand? Get your GGT levels checked today.

We grow up believing age is a number — something fixed, something linear.

But the truth is far more empowering: your chronological age is just a timestamp.

Your biological age is the story your body is actually living.

The difference often comes down to biology: inflammation, hormones, fitness capacity, cardiovascular markers, blood sugar balance, and even the epigenetic patterns that control how your genes behave.

These internal signals respond to the choices you make every day.

Your habits, environment, and stress levels shape the way you age on a molecular level.

And once you can see what’s happening inside your body, you can change the path ahead.

Magnesium sprays are everywhere, but figuring out which ones actually deliver benefits is confusing and often misleading.

Vogue's newest expert round-up includes Robin Berzin MD as a functional medicine leader, offering guidance on the types of topical magnesium that are most effective — and what matters most when choosing a safe formula.

Experts say a magnesium spray may help encourage better sleep, ease stress, and calm the skin.

Is inflammaging inevitable?

Inflammaging—aka long-term, chronic inflammation—has long been considered a “normal” part of aging. But a new study shows it may have more to do with diet, lifestyle, and environment in urbanized, industrialized regions than with aging itself.

So, what can we do to understand our inflammation levels and keep them in check as we age?

First, is getting a baseline of your inflammation via advanced bloodwork. Then track it over time.

For example, here at Parsley we go beyond standard labs and look at something called autoantibodies, which are proteins your immune system produces when it mistakenly targets your own tissues.

Reducing inflammation can involve a personalized anti-inflammatory diet, including foods like watermelon, olive oil, and sweet potatoes, along with omega-3 supplements. Managing stress and improving sleep hygiene can also play a key role.
