Not to be missed!
July 19 + 20 with — SUMMER SCHOOL! Deep dive into everything hands-on adjustments.
Teaching yoga for the past ~20 years has reconfirmed for me that all bodies are unique. As such, I will not teach a set of prefabricated or memorized assists. Instead, we will probe ways to co-create a dialogue with each student in your class to help them realize their own wisdom and blindspots through the art of touch. This workshop will add depth and sophistication to your teaching by practicing hands-on assists appropriate for both group and private sessions. We’ll approach assisting as a practice that goes beyond the physical through explorations of intention and deep observation. Through detailed hand-on demos, we will delve into the more technical and anatomical aspects of assists. We will also investigate how the breath, organs, and more subtle layers of our students factor into every exchange.
Let’s create community together at Kula through this intimate, vulnerable, and empowering artform.
What we will cover (NOT IN LECTURE FORM!!! This will be very hands-on and discussion-based):
—Philosophy of assists and touch
—Empowering students through touch
—How to observe and listen to (NOT READ!!!) bodies
—Anatomical and intentional alignment
—Dynamic assists
—Passive and active assists
—Professionalism and legal responsibilities
If timing or finances are an issue, please reach out to rebecca@ketchumyoga.com and we can work something out.
