Charles Hugh-Jones is the CEO of Volastra, a startup developing novel cancer therapies by focusing on chromosomal instability, a feature of cancer that is present in 60-80% of cancers and corresponds to lower rates of survival.

Based in the Manhattanville Factory District, they are using computational and experimental methods to identify the mechanisms that cancer cells use to evade the immune system, which would usually detect and kill cells with abnormal DNA.

Find out more about their work and how the Manhattanville Factory District facilitates it at our Manhattanville Factory District In-Person Tour and Reception on July 19th!

💧Making Drinking Water Safer - A 2022 Biodesign Challenge Spotlight: Microplastic Water Filter by Mus(t)Go

As part of the 2022 Biodesigned Challenge , students from the Universidad de Los Andes harnessed the natural filtration capabilities of a Colombian moss species to create a filter that can remove microplastics from tap water. 🤯

Through this project, they hope to increase the safety of drinking water for residents of Colombia and beyond.

Congratulations on a wonderful design! 👏

President and CEO of NJK+A Nancy J Kelley, participates as a judge every year for this event and always looks forward to the amazing work that is presented.
