Did you know that there are only two symptoms of ASD present in all individuals? This means that every presentation of Autism is going to appear differently!

It is vital within to asses each individual as a whole rather than generalizing what Autism “looks like.” This is why at ACP we prioritize an in-depth, individualized, and collaborative process when completing our evaluations for families. While the current typical wait time nationally is 6-12 months to receive a Autism diagnosis, ACP's psychology team can typically see your family within 3 weeks to 3 months, depending on location! This shorter wait time allows families partnered with ACP to receive a professional diagnosis, and medically-necessary therapy if suggested, in a significantly shorter time period. This allows your child to receive services during a crucial stage in early development.

Imagine the benefits of being able to reach any learner at their level of communication, comprehension, and learning levels. Additionally consider the benefits of flexible, customizable tools to help them acquire vital communication skills, without disrupting a clinician’s and/or instructor’s treatment plan and curriculum. At ACP, we’re dedicated to providing the tools for individuals to live fulfilling, comfortable lives. To advance this goal, ACP seeks product partners to help expand the reach of the Visual Immersion System (VIS).

The VIS is an evidence-based framework that utilizes visual supports such as standard text-based or static images in addition to a robust collection of other evidence-based tools, making it unique. The immersive and customized application of these tools ensures a way to meet each learner on their level, improving both understanding and use of words to aid in language development and skill acquisition.

The VIS is one-of-a-kind. Developed in partnership with Boston Children’s Hospital, it is completely calibrated to the child’s needs, resolving limitations that result in memorized words, communication breakdowns, and increased frustration.

If you’re interested in a product partnership connect with ACP’s Assistant Vice President of VIS and Partnerships, Kara Morrison-Smith, at KMorrison-Smith@AutismCarePartners.com!

March is the start of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, a vital celebration and time for all advocates to get loud to bring awareness to the experience of individuals with developmental disabilities.

At ACP, we have the privilege of working alongside hundreds of little learners with an Autism diagnosis and their families. It’s deeply inspiring to be reminded just how bright the future is because these children will grow up and shape our society as adults. They’re passionate, capable, interesting, and bright.

To better understand Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, social stigma, and the impact of receiving therapy like Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and more, we spoke with ACP’s newest AVP of Service Delivery, Nicole Geca. We know you’ll find our conversation insightful and motivating to continue uplifting the community we serve.

What is “success” and how do we look at it through our lens at ACP?

While there is no one definition of being successful, ACP prioritizes looking at every little one and their family individually in order to help them reach their fullest potential.

At the end of the day, there is no “one size fits all” definition of success, because there is no "one size” for people! Every person will have different goals, motivations, and more, making their version of success different, as well. Come celebrate the wins, big and small with us or talk to us today about how these small goals can lead to life-changing independence later.
